LegacyMind Device Security overview

What is LegacyMind Device Security?

LegacyMind Device Security is a cloud-based firmware analysis platform targeting device manufacturers, critical infrastructure operators, and managed service providers working with industrial (OT) and IoT environments. Operating at the binary level, it analyzes firmware images and microcontroller builds without requiring source code access or installation of an agent on the target device. Supported formats span Linux firmware images (SquashFS, JFFS2, CramFS, UBI, YAFFS2, ext, ARM zImage, update containers, and VM disks), bare-metal builds (ELF/AXF from Keil MDK, IAR, and GNU Arm toolchains), raw BIN images, Windows CE images, Intel HEX and Motorola S-record formats, and supplier SBOMs in CycloneDX or SPDX. Embedded components such as CMSIS packs, FreeRTOS, lwIP, mbedTLS, and STM32Cube are detected and version-matched against 18 public vulnerability sources, including CISA KEV and EUVD. Actively exploited issues are surfaced first; CVSS scores order remaining findings. Each version match is labeled confirmed or assumed based on evidence present in the image.

LegacyMind Device Security extends analysis beyond vulnerability detection to surface hardcoded credentials, private keys, certificates, and password hashes, alongside binary hardening indicators (RELRO, NX, PIE, stack canaries) and microcontroller-level protections including MPU configuration and privilege separation. SBOM output is available in CycloneDX 1.6, SPDX 2.3, and SPDX 3.0.1. Findings are mapped directly to EU CRA Annex I and SS 30 BSIG (Germany NIS2) obligations, supporting compliance documentation workflows without issuing a conformity verdict. All file processing is confined to servers located in Germany, with files deleted after analysis and only component names and versions transmitted externally for vulnerability matching. A Firmware Extractor feature is available in beta.
