Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

M4IP overview
What is M4IP?
Mamori M4IP is a zero trust network access (ZTNA) module built to replace or complement your VPN. It authenticates and authorizes every user, device, and connection individually, scoping access to the exact resource requested rather than the entire network. It protects anything with an IP address, including web and legacy applications, file shares, servers, databases, and IoT devices, from unverified access, whether the connection comes from a remote laptop, a contractor's device, or a workstation on the internal LAN.
How it works
M4IP sits between users and your infrastructure as a policy enforcement point. Every device registers before it can connect. Every session is authenticated with multi-factor authentication, even for legacy web applications never built to support SAML or OAuth. Access is then scoped by microsegmentation down to IP, port, role, or individual identity, so a user or compromised account can reach only what its policy explicitly allows. There is no default lateral movement between resources.
Core functions
Split VPN architecture: routes only traffic that needs to reach protected resources, instead of backhauling everything through one tunnel
Device Registry: every connecting device is registered and verified before access is granted
MFA on all resource types, including legacy applications without SAML or OAuth
Microsegmentation to IP, port, role, or identity-based workload
Real-time intrusion detection: unsolicited access attempts and network scans trigger an automatic device lockout and admin alert
Full session monitoring and audit logging by user and device
On-demand, least-privilege access: users request a specific resource, an approver grants it, and access expires automatically
Technical specifications
Protocols: SSH, RDP, HTTP/S, TCP, and IP-based traffic to applications, file shares, servers, databases, and IoT devices
Deployment: no agents on protected resources, no application changes needed
Mobile access: SSH from iOS and Android devices
Session recording: full TCP session capture for audit and incident investigation
Coexistence: runs alongside an existing VPN or replaces it outright
Integrations
Active Directory and LDAP for identity and directory sync
SSO and MFA layered onto applications regardless of native SAML or OAuth support
Native compatibility with standard SSH and RDP clients, no endpoint agents
Deploys as part of the full Mamori Server alongside M4PAM (privileged access), M4APP (application security), and Mamori's built-in SIEM, threat, and risk reporting modules for teams that want one console for identity, access, and monitoring
Security features
Zero trust architecture: nothing is trusted by default, including traffic already inside the perimeter
Device-level verification before any connection is established
Real-time network scan detection with automatic device lockout
Microsegmentation prevents lateral movement even if one account or device is compromised
Full audit trail (who, what, when, where, which device) for every session
Built-in threat and risk alerting, with the option to feed events into Mamori's included SIEM dashboard
Who it's for
IT and security teams at mid-market and enterprise organizations managing internal staff, remote employees, external vendors, and IoT devices who need consistent access control across all of them. Also used to bring MFA to legacy applications and to cut the overhead of jump hosts. Organizations with 20 or fewer staff, or under $10M in revenue, can run M4IP free.
CrowdStrike's 2026 Global Threat Report found 82% of detections were credential-based, not malware-based. A VPN can't tell a legitimate credential from a stolen one once someone is inside. M4IP verifies every connection on its own merits, every time.
