Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

M4PAM overview
What is M4PAM?
Mamori M4PAM is a privileged access management (PAM) module that extends identity-based access control past the server and into the database itself. Traditional PAM tools vault and rotate privileged passwords for servers and network devices, then stop. Database access underneath still runs on shared local credentials with no individual attribution. M4PAM closes that gap: every RDP, SSH, and database session is authenticated to a specific person via SSO and 2FA, monitored in real time, and governed by policy down to the table, column, or row.
How it works
M4PAM sits in front of your servers and databases as a policy enforcement point. Users authenticate once with SSO and 2FA, then connect through their native RDP, SSH, or database client, no jump box, no separate credential portal. Behind the scenes, Mamori manages a small number of service accounts per server and maps individual user identity to each session, so every action is attributable even though the underlying account is shared infrastructure.
Core functions
SSO and 2FA for RDP, SSH, and direct database connections
Built-in SQL/NoSQL firewall: allow or block specific command types, for example permit SELECT but block bulk DELETE, by role or policy
Data masking: obfuscate sensitive fields for unauthorized viewers, reveal with approval
Full session recording and playback for RDP, SSH, and database activity
On-demand, least-privilege access with automatic expiry, no manual cleanup of unused accounts
Key-based SSH access enforcement
Technical specifications
Protocols: RDP, SSH/SFTP, and native connections to SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other major database engines
Deployment: no agents, no client-side software, no changes to existing servers or databases
Access model: policy-based, role-driven, down to row, column, or table granularity for databases
Session capture: full recording and playback, exportable for audit
Integrations
Active Directory and LDAP for identity and directory sync
Works alongside an existing third-party PAM tool, adding only the database layer it doesn't cover, or functions as a complete standalone PAM for organizations with none
Native compatibility with standard RDP, SSH, and database clients, plus BI tools like PowerBI, SAS, and SSMS
Deploys as part of the full Mamori Server alongside M4IP (network access) and M4APP (application security), with built-in SIEM, threat, and risk reporting for one console across identity, access, and monitoring
Security features
Identity-based access eliminates shared, hard-to-trace privileged credentials
SQL/NoSQL firewall blocks risky operations before they execute, not just after the fact in a log
Dynamic data masking limits exposure of sensitive data by default
Full audit trail (who, what, when, where, which device) for every privileged session
Automatic access expiry removes the zombie-account problem most access reviews miss
Supports segregation of database admin and server admin duties, a requirement in several compliance frameworks
Who it's for
Database administrators managing shared credentials and constant access requests, IT security teams and CISOs consolidating PAM and database security into one tool, and compliance teams working toward ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, or similar certifications. A confidential financial services customer selected M4PAM after a three-vendor proof of concept specifically because it was the only solution able to extend their existing PAM into the database without requiring any changes to that tool.
