MDEX overview

What is MDEX?

MDEX is a cloud-based Industrial IoT platform that integrates hardware and software to connect CNC machines, robots, and industrial sensors to a unified data layer. Designed for discrete manufacturing, precision machining, and industrial automation environments, MDEX streams real-time machine metrics to web-based dashboards, analytics tools, and third-party systems without requiring replacement of existing equipment. The platform combines on-machine hardware components, including an industrial-grade control box with custom PCB, switches, and LED indicators, and a BLE receiver for operator presence tracking, with a cloud-hosted software layer accessible via browser and mobile app.

MDEX captures every machine state change through an event-driven database, supporting accurate and objective OEE calculation without manual data entry. Real-time dashboards display machine status and operational efficiency across the full machine park, while role-appropriate views bridge communication between shop floor operators and management. The operator console, available on tablet or integrated control box, covers job, order, tool, and scheduling management, including tool offset tracking and direct platform updates. Anomaly detection triggers push notifications via mobile app for CNC errors, malfunctions, and custom-defined events, allowing rapid intervention. The platform's protocol-agnostic connectivity layer supports OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, MTConnect, Node-RED, Euromap, and more, with proven ERP integrations including Epicor and MKG, plus compatibility with Power BI, Grafana, Ignition SCADA, and IMNOO.

MDEX follows a modular architecture that supports incremental deployment, allowing manufacturing facilities to start with a limited scope and expand across the machine park over time. The OEM-agnostic design connects machines from any manufacturer, making it applicable across mixed-equipment production environments. Primarily serving manufacturers in the Netherlands, Belgium, and broader Europe, including Tier-1 suppliers to high-demand production facilities, MDEX targets operations where objective machine data, fast anomaly response, and cross-system integration are operational priorities.
