MiniPACS overview
What is MiniPACS?
MiniPACS is a self-hosted picture archiving and communication system for independent imaging centers. It turns a mini PC, an existing clinic server, or the practice's own cloud account into a full PACS: CT, MRI, ultrasound and X-ray machines send studies over standard DICOM, staff open them in any modern browser with nothing to install (a typical study opens in about 0.6 seconds, measured), and new studies appear on the worklist automatically, typically within about a minute. Reporting is built in, with dictation support and signed PDF export. Studies can be shared through expiring, PIN-protected links or QR codes, transferred clinic-to-clinic as DICOM, or exported to CD/USB as a self-contained disc. Backups are encrypted (AES-256), and staff accounts use role-based access with audit logging. Pricing is a flat $300 per location per month, billed yearly, with unlimited studies, users and machines; if the subscription lapses, the archive stays on the clinic's hardware with read-only access. Guided remote setup and archive migration are a one-time project from $1,500. An optional referral and booking portal, Vendo, adds online referral intake, scheduling and status tracking.
