Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

PDF to MD overview
What is PDF to MD?
PDF to MD is a web-based document conversion tool that transforms PDFs, Word (DOCX) files, HTML, and images into GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM), including tables. Text-based PDFs are processed entirely within the browser with no file upload, keeping sensitive documents local. For scanned PDFs, photos, and image-only pages, optional cloud OCR is available as a paid upgrade. Local conversion supports files up to 50 MB and PDFs up to 500 pages; cloud mode supports files up to 10 MB and PDFs up to 100 pages. A free tier includes unlimited local conversions and 100 standard cloud conversions per month.
Batch conversion allows processing of up to 5 files on the free tier and up to 100 files on Pro, with results packaged as a ZIP download. Batch jobs are fault-isolated, so a failure in one file does not interrupt the remaining queue. Markdown to PDF export is also supported. Cloud jobs automatically delete original uploads after processing, with results retained for 24 hours.
PDF to MD targets knowledge workers, Obsidian and Notion users, developers, and automation teams. A REST API and remote MCP access are available for scripted and automated document conversion workflows, drawing from the same account credits used on the website. OCR access is available via page credits, a Pro subscription (300 OCR pages per month), or a prepaid OCR pack (200 pages for $5, valid 12 months). The tool preserves original document language and content without rewriting or summarizing.
