Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

Phi overview
What is Phi?
Phi is a family of small language, multimodal, and reasoning models developed by Microsoft, spanning multiple generations (Phi-1 through Phi-4) and parameter ranges from 1.3B to 14B. Available via Azure AI Foundry and Hugging Face, with support for local and edge deployment, the models target developers, researchers, and enterprises building AI-powered applications where compute efficiency and cost control are priorities.
Each model generation is optimized for a distinct capability profile. Phi-3 and Phi-4 variants cover text, vision, and reasoning tasks, with context windows up to 128K tokens. Phi-3.5 introduces a mixture-of-experts architecture (MoE) for multi-language support across more than 20 languages. Phi-4-multimodal extends input handling to text, image, audio, and video. Phi-4-reasoning targets structured, multi-step problem solving. Models are available in ONNX, GGUF, and standard formats, supporting deployment on CPU, GPU, NPU, and mobile hardware.
The Phi family is designed for scenarios where large model infrastructure is impractical: on-device inference, latency-sensitive pipelines, and resource-constrained environments. Fine-tuning support and broad hardware compatibility make the models adaptable across industries including healthcare, finance, education, and software development. Licensing terms vary by model version, with several releases under the MIT license for commercial use.
