The IDE only comes with a short trial, no community edition and the license is rather expensive.

For example, I can't use the database manager in PhpStorm since the beginning of the year, when a synchronization error started. And I still haven't solved it today.

The GUI and the workflow help me get in and out faster. It commands a slightly higher price because of this, but so far I've been finding that to be a fair trade off.

That's because it indexes all files for faster search but sometimes if system is low on memory that can be very painful because it can get really slower.

Note that the licensing is subscription based (at the moment we started, it was about 9$/month/devel, which scales up pretty fast for large teams.
