Picrota overview
What is Picrota?
Picrota is a free image and screenshot editor that runs as a Chrome and Edge extension. Take a screenshot of a browser tab or your desktop, or open an existing image, then crop it, mask sensitive details, highlight key areas, add boxes, circles, arrows and text, rotate or flip it, and save the result as a PNG without leaving the browser.
Sensitive data such as card numbers, ID details and personal information is covered with solid opaque blocks, and the saved PNG is flattened, so the hidden details cannot be recovered. Editing happens locally in the browser: images are not uploaded and nothing is processed in the cloud.
Teams in compliance, KYC and AML, fraud investigation, customer support and general office work use Picrota to prepare screenshots for case files, tickets and reports in fewer steps than switching between Paint, a snipping tool and the browser.
