Plain overview

What is Plain?

Plain is a cloud-based and desktop AI office suite that converts prompts, uploaded files, data, and existing chat output into designed reports, presentation decks, and data dashboards, each published as a stable, shareable web page link. A single body of content serves as the canonical source of truth and renders across three distinct views: Report for long-form documentation, Slides for decision-making and persuasion, and Dashboard for KPIs, tables, and charts. Office file export to .pptx, .docx, and .xlsx is available when recipients require a file attachment. The platform targets freelancers, consultants, and teams of any size, with Free, Pro, Max, and per-seat Team plans.

Content is authored and stored in Markdown and a Plain DSL source layer, with click-to-edit controls surfaced directly on generated pages. AI drafts initial structure and content from a prompt, file import (.pptx, .docx, .xlsx, .pdf, .csv, .html, or URL), or prior chat output, and applies inline revisions with full version history and rollback. Real-time multi-editor collaboration, inline comments, and read-only share links for non-users support team workflows. Project containers group brand assets and chat history across deck, doc, and sheet artifacts within a shared workspace.

Plain extends into automation and agent-driven workflows through an MCP server compatible with Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex, and a CLI for CI pipeline integration. A Tauri-based desktop app for macOS and Windows adds offline editing and local archive capabilities. The interface is available in 10 languages, and view tracking lets authors see who has opened a shared link.
