RAGbase Legal is a private AI infrastructure platform deployed on a law firm's own servers or private cloud, with an optional turnkey hardware appliance (RAGbase Box) shipped directly to the firm's office. The platform indexes the full internal document corpus, including DMS systems, email archives, file servers, and deal rooms, and deploys custom AI agents for legal research, document drafting, and workflow automation. The firm retains full ownership of the code and data; no information is shared with third parties or used to train shared models. A one-time build cost replaces per-seat fees, monthly subscriptions, and recurring licenses.

The platform uses Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) across the firm's entire document corpus, enabling semantic search across emails, files, and document management systems such as iManage and NetDocuments. AI agents handle multi-step legal workflows autonomously, including document auto-classification, data extraction to billing and CRM systems, deadline flagging, and intake email triage. AI-assisted drafting of briefs, memos, and contracts uses the firm's own templates and formatting, with export to Word and PDF. A model-agnostic architecture supports frontier models including GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, and Mistral, with task routing based on complexity. Local models process routine tasks with no external connection; complex tasks are routed to cloud LLMs using only anonymized, de-identified excerpts.
