Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

SafeBrowz overview
What is SafeBrowz?
SafeBrowz is a browser security extension that provides real-time detection and blocking of phishing sites, brand impersonation attempts, and cryptocurrency wallet draining scripts. The extension resides in the browser, silently scanning each webpage and analyzing URL patterns as well as page content against local heuristics, community blacklists, and threat intelligence sources. It addresses the needs of individual internet users, cryptocurrency investors, and organizational teams seeking protection from online fraud targeting more than five hundred brands across more than one hundred languages.
The product employs a four layer detection architecture that escalates analysis based on threat complexity and performance considerations. The initial layer completes local checks within one hundred milliseconds by analyzing URL patterns, detecting typosquat variations, and consulting community maintained blacklists. The second layer cross references external databases and verifies domain registration age and SSL certificate validity. The third layer applies AI powered brand detection to identify visual and textual impersonation of legitimate domains across industries and regions. The fourth layer leverages a shared cache that propagates threat verdicts across all users to accelerate repeat site assessments.
A persistent on screen indicator displays color coded threat levels to convey site safety status. Green indicates a safe site, yellow signals caution for factors such as newly registered domains or missing certificate validations, and red denotes confirmed threats including wallet drainer scripts or credential phishing pages. The indicator is presented as a draggable widget with adjustable sizing that scales interface components proportionally. Licensed editions include advanced protections such as clickjacking mitigation to disable invisible overlay attacks, pastejacking safeguards to restore altered clipboard contents, credential breach monitoring against known incident data, and link hover scanning for pre click risk assessment. Detection capabilities extend to more than sixty scam categories, involving obfuscated script analysis, fake CAPTCHA schemes, OAuth phishing, Punycode exploitation, government impersonations, and AI deepfake giveaway campaigns. The extension also detects wallet draining modules deployed through JavaScript and monitors infrastructure on more than two hundred free hosting platforms commonly abused by threat actors.
The solution offers a programmatic interface via a RESTful API for integration with wallet applications, decentralized systems, AI agents, and automated workflows. The API replaces traditional authentication with a blockchain oriented micropayment protocol that verifies transactions on supported networks. Response payloads deliver a multi signal threat analysis equivalent to the browser extension verdicts. The software supports installation on major desktop browsers including Chromium based variants and Firefox on multiple operating systems. Support for additional mobile browsers is under development. A supplementary messaging bot extends detection into group chats and private discussions by scanning shared URLs and issuing inline warnings for detected threats.
