What is Tracea?
Tracea is a self-hosted, open-source observability platform built for developers and engineering teams operating AI agents. Deployed via a single Docker Compose command, it traces every LLM call, tool execution, error, and lifecycle event through transport-level interception, requiring no wrappers, SDKs, or framework-specific integrations. All data remains on the user's own infrastructure, with no cloud SaaS component and no third-party data transit.
The platform ships a local React dashboard covering cost trends, token usage, duration distribution, session health, and per-agent breakdowns. Issue detection runs on YAML-configurable rules targeting tool errors, high cost, rate limit exhaustion, infinite loops, and empty responses, with hot-reload on save and no restart required. Alerts route to Slack or any HTTP webhook, with per-destination rate limiting, a 60-second deduplication window, and exponential backoff retries. AI-powered root cause analysis (RCA) is available via OpenAI, Anthropic, or Ollama, with fully local RCA through Ollama ensuring no data leaves the user's network.
Tracea carries no per-seat or per-event pricing, no vendor lock-in, and full compatibility with any LLM framework. Detection rules are inspectable and version-controllable via YAML, and the open-source codebase gives engineering teams complete visibility into every layer of the observability stack.
