Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

Virtual Patching overview
What is Virtual Patching?
Virtual Patching is a kernel-level enforcement solution that protects vulnerable applications from exploitation without requiring a vendor patch, CVE assignment, or signature update. During onboarding, a known-good baseline is established for each protected component, covering every authorized file, process, registry key, and configuration. Every subsequent change is evaluated at Ring 0 before execution and blocked if unauthorized, regardless of whether the exploit is known, novel, or previously unseen. Coverage extends uniformly to patched systems, unpatched systems, end-of-life systems, and third-party software that organizations cannot modify.
Deployed as a kernel-level agent on protected hosts, Virtual Patching operates below the layer where endpoint agents run, making enforcement decisions locally at the kernel. Rules deploy and reverse without a maintenance window or system restart, and enforcement holds continuously through patch cycles, calendar gaps, and maintenance windows. The enforcement architecture is source-agnostic: changes originating from ransomware, signed installers, insider threats, compromised vendor updates, and AI agents are all evaluated against the same authorized baseline. Identity-agnostic enforcement means the test is whether a change was authorized, not whether the credentials initiating it are valid. This design holds against AI-accelerated vulnerability discovery scenarios where disclosure-to-exploit windows compress from weeks to hours and novel exploits are generated faster than signatures can be written.
Virtual Patching is additive to existing security stacks, operating alongside WAF, IPS, EDR, XDR, SIEM, SOAR, and BCDR tooling without requiring rip-and-replace. It produces per-host, per-CVE, per-timestamp records of blocked and permitted changes suitable for auditor and board reporting. For CISOs and security operations teams, it functions as a verifiable compensating control across enterprise environments, including critical software infrastructure, RMM platforms, and organizations running legacy or unpatchable systems.
