Zed is an open-source code editor built from scratch in Rust, delivering GPU-accelerated rendering at up to 120fps with low boot time and typing latency. Available as a native desktop application for macOS, Linux, and Windows, it supports real-time multiplayer collaboration, integrated AI agents, a native debugger, built-in Git tooling, and Language Server Protocol (LSP) integration. Designed for individual developers and engineering teams of any size, Zed requires no account or subscription for non-AI features and can be built from source.

AI capabilities are deeply integrated but fully optional. The Agent Panel supports parallel agent threads across projects, while the Inline Assistant transforms selected code in place via a language model. Edit Prediction delivers keystroke-level next-edit suggestions powered by Zeta, an open-weight, open-data model.
