Not Domo but Less Expensive

2019-01-15

It has been worth the savings over Domo. If you can deal with the hard set up it is worth the savings.

Pros

We were using Domo and we can do everything we were using with Domo.

Cons

It is very hard to set up. It has some quirks that need to be ironed out. Some of the reports don't look quite right.

Better alternative to Domo

2018-12-06

Please see the Pros section.

Pros

It works far better than Domo. We have been using domo for the past several years and constantly had issues with them from slowness of updates to terrible customer support.

Cons

I don't have any dislikes about this software.

A new era of Data Management

2018-12-14

I have used both Tableau and Domo, and much prefer Tableau both for the user interface, ease of use, and raw processing power.

Pros

The aggregation of data, and pure raw functionality of the platform. In the era of cloud-based platforms, the ability to combine multiple data sets into one is invaluable. Having systems talk to each other and share data is critical in this day and age. Tableau does that and more.

Cons

High learning curve with some gatekeeping of information (Tableau certifications, conference learnings, etc.), and license based pricing. Can be buggy sometimes depending on your datasets.

Enterprise business analytics

2019-04-16

Pros

Tableau is a very robust data and analytics tool. It's feature rich and can handle just about anything that you can conceive of.

Cons

I personally think Domo is easier to use and cheaper.

Most powerful visualization tool but steep learning curve

2016-05-17

Pros

Tableau is a powerful desktop analytics software which allows the most customizable and sophisticated analytics I've seen after having used Qliksense, Qlikview, and Domo. Almost anything you can image you can create, including sophisticated drill downs, color coding, correlated charts, and more.

Cons

Unfortunately the power of tableau brings a lot of complexity. It's not the type of software you can just click around and figure out so people who use it regularly do need to do a significant amount of training, and depending on their software proficiency the learning curve can be quite steep. The product, as a desktop software (I didn't use the online version), is starting to feel dated: you still have to save files and the software does crash every so often causing lost work, and you still have to deal with the annoyance of file management.

Recommendations to others considering Tableau

If you need highly sophisticated, interactive, customizable visualizations and a powerful desktop analytics engine, Tableau is becoming an industry standard. Ease of use needs some work though.

Light years behind Tableau

2019-01-09

I have a lot of experience using business intelligence software to visual complex datasets to my clients and this product does not compare to its competitors. I will not be using this software anytime soon.

Pros

I tested this product on a trial basis recently to see if it was a viable solution to replace our dependency on tableau, but it did not live up to my expectations.

Cons

In comparison to tableau, the user interface is lacking.

Quality Viz Product

2018-10-01

Keep your eyes on this impressive company - they build quality data visualization software

Pros

Domo excels in the ability to easily create numerous visuals quickly. It allows you to analyze data to gain insights not seen with other products, like excel.

Cons

Domo has cut the distance between themselves and Tableau, but they still have not surpasses them.

The future of cloud analytics

2016-05-17

Pros

It's visualizations, while less sophisticated than Tableau/Qlik are much easier to create and visually attractive out of the box, and many of the features are copied from best-in-class social apps: From Pinterest, Boards with a scrolling list of pins, from Tumblr the ability to "reblog" or remix individual charts into your own dashboards, and to "follow" specific dashboards, Slack, excellent contextual chat system with alerts and @notifications.

Cons

Domo has set their pricing to be competitive with Tableau/Qlik and current leading analytics packages.

Recommendations to others considering Domo

Domo is meant to drive company-wide analytics. It isn't the most sophisticated or powerful, but it is by far the easiest to use and the most likely to gain adoption within the company.

Executive Friendly. Easy Visual Snapshot of KPIs.

2018-05-06

Pros

It's a great platform for aggregating, manipulating and displaying a snapshot (or real time view) of your business metrics. Domo is very executive friendly, and is very visibly pretty. Beast calculations (effectively functions in the language of MS Excel) and magic transformations provide the ability to manipulate data that has been imported into Domo. Domo has a wide range of connectors that enable you to pull data into it and produce what they call cards. Cards are effectively presentation displays of data that can be updated automatically with a continuous feed of data.

Cons

Domo lacks some more advanced functionality, such as: (1) The ability to display on one card, data from more than one date object (2) Geo-spatial analysis TableAU, QuickSight by AWS and QGIS offer functionality that may better fit your use case.
