BEST TODO for team

2018-09-05

In combination whit Slack is great.

Pros

Great interface, easy to use, you can create a personal project or team project and manage a oard for TODO, timeline, share files, and calendar. Every task can be managed for many tools lika due date, subtask, mark subtask done, and coments history

Cons

The first time I tried to change between my personal projects and my team projects I felt lost. It was not intuitive to have to go to my profile icon to change the environment.

Easiest App for Project Managemtn

2018-08-15

Another feature I love is the huge number of integrations available. I use Slack every day and I very much like the Slack integration.

Pros

This app is so easy to use! Everyone I've suggested it to comments on just that - they love the choice of boards or lists, and how easy it is to set up sub-tasks. If you have lots of tasks each day, and need a place to track them all, try Asana.

Cons

The pricing is a little high for a business that needs teams - but I am a bootstrapper. If you have an established business and Asana's pricing fits within your budget, you will love it.

Very Useful Project Coordination Software

2018-07-23

Pros

- Extremely Flexible - Much easier to learn than other PM Software - Mobile App is great - New slack integration is really cool, allows task creation from slack

Cons

infinite flexibility allows for people to use the tool in so many ways things can feel a little bit disorganized if you don't have someone on top of things. Not necessarily the softwares fault, but other PM Software contains more structure to prevent this

Good project management platform for certain personalities

2018-11-30

Pros

It's thorough, intuitive, and integrates with Slack.

Cons

It's not as aesthetically pleasing to use as Trello. The list feel doesn't offer the same satisfaction as cards, though I appreciate that Asana offers cards now.

Sad to say have moved on

2018-07-28

Some initially but most were superseded by SLACK

Pros

I liked the free application of the software for a start up advisory role I held with a new company

Cons

But I have since moved onto SLACK it pains me to say, as it combines most of the factors with better platform.

It'll make you want to be productive

2018-12-21

Asana is one of my favorite tools and is on my home screen on my phone. I recommend it over any task/project management tool.

Pros

The style in the app is great. I love software that I actually enjoy using. It's clean and useful. The collaboration is great and keeps everyone on the same page. Greatly reduces the risk of people forgetting what to do or not knowing when they need to have it done.

Cons

Sometimes it difficult to decide when to use comments or when to Slack. I usually find my team just slacking for conversations but Asana is great for tracking tasks and projects.

Great UI, Easy to Use - Wish had More Robust Reporting Features

2016-11-10

I love Asana for tracking my tasks, it's easy to use and has a friendly UI - the best I've seen out there. My only complaint is that our Project Managers have a difficult time pulling burndown reports, and other necessary reporting tools are not integrated. I'm hoping these will be introduced soon!

Pros

Easy to use, Great UI, integrations with slack, harvest etc.

Cons

Need better reporting tools

I love Asana

2018-10-04

Pros

It's one of the best project management tools that I've used so far. It even sends you email reminders of the tasks that are due and overdue. It lets you manage the projects as a team so that everyone has visibility of each team member's responsibility and we can get notified once a task is completed.

Cons

It has a slack integration and it can sometimes spam you with Asana notifications.

Asana needs to learn from Basecamp

2019-03-07

Asana is a good tool, but it needs to be more user intuitive. As a new user, there is a slight learning curve. Overall solid tool for project management.

Pros

User friendly, permissions-based workgroups, tagging, integration with Slack and other productivity tools, assorted views.

Not my cup of tea but it works

2018-08-17

I am using the product due to the need to reflect my work, though I still use post-it notes to actually organize my work.

Pros

Good integration with Slack.

Cons

The way Asana is built can create a chaos. I had many times I couldn't find past tasks so I had make a new one. Asana tasks and github branches don't always align so it creates mess too. Communication could be a mess too as people could comment in tasks and subtasks which are seperate conversations.

Simply go for it, better than Asana and Trello.

Pros

Separate threads for each project You can start a separate thread from within thread referring to a particular comment by a particular person. Both online and offline versions help easy accessibility. Mobile app with push notifications keeps you updated in real time. Very easy to use interface, and the learning curve is very short. You can start a different project, merge the users from other projects and many many customizations.

Great collaboration tool, easy IMing and file sharing

2017-12-01

IMing feature, file sharing, records of team discussions, integrates with Asana for task management.

Pros

I like that it keeps a history of files shared. My team uses this to share larger files, and it's easy to go back and re-download something if you need it again. Works 1,000X better at IMing on a Mac than Skype for Business.

Slack makes team communication easy!

2018-04-05

Pros

In addition, it has many wonderful API's that allow you to connect and collaborate and update more efficiently from Asana to Salesforce to GSuite!

Cons

Some of the API's could stand to be updated. The Asana to Slack integration is okay, but missing some two-way functionality that would be nice.

Complex tool, great for small to mid size businesses

2019-02-09

As a small marketing agency, we tried multiple project management tools (Basecamp, Asana) and Slack turned out to be the best!

Pros

It's a great tool for small to mid size business who needs to organize different projects and have teams. We have been using the free version for over a year for our small digital marketing agency, it's great because you can create projects and open conversations in all of them with different team members. You can also chat with every member, send files, images, you can tag people (@) and it is integrated with Google Drive for us. They are constantly improving it with apps. You can set yourself as "away" if you would like to work but not be interupted by others. It has desktop notification setting as an option, which I found very useful The best feature is that you can "pin" posts to mark them as important!

Cons

The user interface seems a little complicated at first, but after a few days the structure makes sense and you will understand the connection between the areas.

Best Online Communicator

2018-12-15

Almost perfect! It helps the whole team to be more productive and track the things we do.

Pros

The best that I like with this software is it can be integrated with Google and Asana. Also the ability to schedule a reminder for a specific channel.

Cons

So far I haven't encountered any yet, it helps us all to communicate and have separate channels for every clients we have.

Everything you need to know

Asana and Slack are collaboration software solutions that enable businesses to manage, share and process documents, files, or other types of data. How do you decide which solution is the best fit for your collaboration needs based on your budget?

To save time and effort when comparing the solutions, we've created a tool that provides a head-to-head comparison of the products' core features.

Based on the vendor websites and user reviews of Asana and Slack, here is how some of their core features stack up:

  • Document management: Both apps allow users to upload and manage documents. In Asana, documents can be attached to projects and tasks. In Slack, you can upload files to conversations or channels, and those files can be accessed from that channel's sidebar or by using the search feature.
  • Communication: Asana handles communication by using a commenting system on tasks and projects, and you can send messages to larger groups of people across the company using the Team Conversations feature. Slack uses instant messaging in channels that can be made private or public. Slack also offers conference calls, video calls, and screen sharing.
  • Integrations: Both Asana and Slack offer a broad range of integrations, including through Zapier. They both integrate with popular apps such as Dropbox, Google Calendar, and Google Drive. They also integrate with each another. Both also offer developer APIs.
  • Real-time notifications: Both apps help users stay updated on important notifications. In Asana, notifications are delivered to the internal inbox, via email and push notifications. Slack offers desktop notifications, icon badge notifications, and push notifications. Both offer mobile apps that can receive and send notifications.
  • Access Control: Asana helps to control access rights for public and private folders to control file sharing between external and internal project stakeholders. Slack offers various user roles with different permission levels, as well as private and public channels for group chats.
