Dropbox has been a very pivotable part in my career as a record producer and creative director. What I really love about dropbox is its ability to share files exclusively

Great product for teams

2017-05-04

Pros

Integrates with lots of other programs like slack and asana.

Cons

Can be hard to manage files with lots of team members. Things can get deleted or lost by accident. If you're not careful it will eat up a ton of memory fast on shared accounts.

Dropbox proves to be competitive and has good characteristics.

2018-10-23

Dropbox is a very simple platform to use, each of its functions comes with instructions to really provide them and in order to help all kinds of users.

Pros

I like Dropbox because of an infinity of characteristics that it has. Currently one of the most striking is its fast transaction of files, it is a function that has gradually taken on life and that currently manages that any type of file is sent or received in a matter of seconds. In addition, Dropbox has an excellent accessibility, allowing transfer files from a mobile phone and everything from a link.

Cons

You should improve the implementation you have with Slack, since the file transaction through that platform and Dropbox, is not very good and does not give the same speed.

We use dropbox to back up all of the large assets for our website and app

2018-06-26

Pros

I also appreciate that I can generate sharable links to make it easy for teammates to download specific files via email or slack

Cons

The monthly cost? We can work perfectly fine with regular drop box so often it's hard to justify paying the month to month cost. Especially with alternatives like pCloud

Beautiful Product - Free plan is limited

2017-11-18

Pros

We have been using Dropbox on our team for a few months now and I love the way integrates with my workflows. Slack, Mac App, Collaboration.

Cons

The free plan is very limited - Compared to Google Drive, which comes along with the GSuite, which any company naturally uses for email, etc.

Decent file storage and sharing as a standalone, might be better if part of a stack

2018-08-12

Pros

I've used Dropbox when I've worked with a few clients to securely share and store documents. Their mobile and desktop web apps work well, and they offer a lot of storage. The integration with Windows Explorer works well too. I worked in the Document and Records Management space for several years, and Box.net is a solid service. I've only used their freemium app as a standalone, and on a sporadic basis for clients who preferred it. Version control, search and foldering all seem to work quite well, and it works well to capture my screenshots of images for certain projects.

Cons

If I used Dropbox every day, and leveraged one of the many integrations they support, like Slack or Salesforce, I wouldn't call this out as a negative.

Easy File sharing and free storage

2018-09-16

Pros

Our organizations uses Slack to share small files and dropbox to share large files.

Cons

If a large folder is shared with me from the organization and my plan is just the basic one, it doesn't even allows me to view that folder until I pay for a premium. If you decline the pop up to pay for premium upon receiving a large folder, every thing will start functioning unusually. Even though the 1TB plan is very affordable, I found out that if a large folder is shared with me, I can't browse even the files in other folders smoothly without paying them a subscription fee.

Dropbox Business is fast, its UI is simple, it makes storing and sharing of your files seamlessly.

2018-02-20

Peace of mind knowing that Dropbox Business is in charge of my files. Also unlike other file storage options, Dropbox is fast, easy to navigate, and constantly evolving to improve its features. I'm able to seamlessly store and share large files, making it easy to collaborate on projects and work with employees regardless of your location. There are a number of ways to log into Dropbox, including a desktop app, online access, or an app for your mobile device. That means you can view, edit and share any documents you need with whatever device is most convenient. You gain peace of mind knowing that with files stored in Dropbox, hardware issues or other disasters will never compromise your data. Even if there's an issue with your in-office technology, you're able to keep on working and accessing whatever files you need.

Pros

A big advantage for Dropbox Business is its ever growing API offerings, which supports a variety of programming languages and the technologies it integrates with. Also Dropbox Business lets your organizations create custom integration that extend Dropbox to a wide range of applications and services. Unlike other file storage options, Dropbox Business is fast, easy to navigate, and constantly evolving to improve its features. Too expensive for what you get. Other services that give you more functionality for less money.

2017-12-14

It's good for syncing files from one computer to another (e.g. work, home, mobile). I would not say it is good (or cost-effective) as a business cloud file storage service. Perhaps it is beneficial as a business's cloud backup of their local server.

Pros

Paper seems neat and you can add Slack integration so that's cool too.

Cons

I do not understand how they can charge so much for their Business plans. The only service being provided is document storage, so you have to compare it with MS OneDrive or Google Drive. Chances are, your MS or Google subscription includes OneDrive/Drive anyway so why would anyone want to pay extra for Dropbox? The only benefit is the on-demand syncing (OneDrive requires Windows 10), but you can get the same feature from Google Drive for half the price, as well as document-creating apps and simultaneous editing/collaboration (as opposed to simply being notified that someone else is currently editing the file, so wait your turn). There is no way to create a file directly from the Dropbox web version...because there are no document-creating tools provided. OneDrive and Google Drive both allow you to create a new document directly from the web version of their services. You cannot add tags or comments to a document. Both of which would help with organizing the document and finding it later. The search feature is very basic. It would be nice to have some advanced search criteria (e.g. "pictures", "PDFs", date ranges, authors, owners, etc.) You can only share folders among team members. The only way to share specific files is by using a URL, which then makes the file accessible to the entire world, so long as someone can guess the URL. If someone isn't on your team, they can only VIEW files (or you have to give URL access, opening it up to the entire world).

Great communication tool

2018-09-06

It's a great tool that every company should use. It helps me communicate with my colegues (with one person or with several people at once) and it's so easy to use.

Pros

The best thing about Slack is that I can connect Dropbox to it, I can share files with my colleagues and gain instant access to Dropbox files by sending Dropbox link within a Slack conversation.

Cons

I can't say that there's something I don't like about this software. Mybe the notification sounds could be better.

Could be oriented more towards business-tasks

2018-11-26

Overall, Slack has saved us considerable time communicating within our remote workforce in Guadalajara. Passing files back and forth could be improved with version control to enable comparison of uploaded files. Slack is how work gets done at Propelics!

Pros

Enables uploading of media, integrates well with Trello, Dropbox, Google Drive, Twitter.

Cons

Lacks real business production features like bug/task assignment and tracking. I could see pulling more Trello-like features into Slack. Also, image markup functionality would be great! Native integration of videoconferencing would also be nice vs triggering of Zoom. Could use better notification when people leave or new people join a team. File versioning, like the kind Box uses, would also be great.

Great Collaboration Tool

2018-02-06

Pros

Feature rich Really nice interface Integration with dropbox, tagging, searching

Cons

This can be expensive, and since it is so feature rich it can be cumbersome for non-tech users. Out of the box functionality is there, but to get it to do some of the cools things, it takes alot more work and knowledge. If you are willing to invest in the configuration, then that isn't a con.

Awesome Collaboration Tool!

2015-12-19

Slack is the kitchen sink of collaboration tools - it's the glue that binds everything together in our organization. We use it for our college student group, but I also fire up an organization for hackathons and mini-projects. Combining the integrations with Slack's fantastic Search feature makes this a great value product. I'm looking forward to trying the paid version soon.

Pros

Integrations with Google Drive, Dropbox, Github, Hangouts and Giphy form the icing on a juicy cake

Cons

It's a bit expensive for us to try the paid version currently, but I can see this as being a budget issue only for small organizations. Big companies shouldn't have a problem

Slack Redefines Communicating With Colleagues

2018-10-10

It's been really, really good so far,... been using it about a year now.

Pros

I love being able to simply chuck a message at a general thread or topic and know that people can just click it whenever to see it. I also love just uploading visual assets or links to the timeline and knowing it will just 'live' there if I ever need to go back and look at it.

Cons

Sometimes, I feel like the software could be improved in its integrations with DropBox or Google Drive, but really, not much.

A great way to streamline internal communication

2016-03-06

Pros

Slack let us eliminate back/forth internal communication that was previously done via email. There would be tons of back/forth emails clogging up our inboxes. That communication is now almost exclusively via slack and our project management tool and has helped us prioritize client emails and more important messages that land in our inboxes.

Cons

We do not take full advantage of all of its integrations -- we only integrate Dropbox/Trello.

Endless avenues for multi-tiered projects

2019-02-12

Would be great to see some dropbox crossover for file sharing, but for now it seems easy enough to share files direct from the computer.

Pros

Slack is great for communicating with teammembers on different aspects of jobs instantly. No more long work emails and the different channels make it simple to stay on tasks or to keep focus on different aspects of a project without the conversation spiraling out of control and being unable to find portions from before.

Cons

Starting different channels requires different passwords and names, I just wish there were a simpler fingerprint to access my channels.
