What is LanguageTool?
LanguageTool is a grammar and spell check software that lets students, authors, freelancers, publishing houses, and businesses of all sizes identify potential errors in the content. It helps review text in various languages such as English, Catalan, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Dutch, Polish, Spanish, and more.
LanguageTool allows content creators to receive suggestions for misspellings, distinguish between British and US English, and create a personal glossary by adding words, which are not present in the standard dictionary. The solution offers plugins for MS Word, Firefox, Google Chrome, LibreOffice, Thunderbird, Apache OpenOffice, and Google Docs, allowing users to check and correct typographical errors within documents. It also identifies writing style issues, repeated words, and grammatical errors in a document or selected text.
Writers can view the detected errors in a sidebar and click on the appropriate option to correct mistakes. Businesses can also use LanguageTool to detect gender-inclusive non-conformities across salutation and incorrect checksums in ISBN or IBANs.
