Codecov overview
What is Codecov?
The Codecov platform is a reporting tool for identifying software bugs at early stages by screening pull requests. The results are detailed in the coverage metrics, which is the percentage of code lines the test suite could execute. A pull request is immediately provided with detailed comments, enabling developers to identify the required corrections.
Coverage is a percentage calculated by dividing the number of lines the test could execute with the total number of hits, partial hits, and misses. The coverage is used as a standard within the Codecov platform and is different from what other systems use. Codecov automatically generates cinfigurable reports to help users gain insights into the performance and quality of codes.
The platform is available as a self-hosted and on-premise version with unlimited repositories. The software does not store programs, nor does it copy repositories, and uses an API to synchronize data and interact with the repository.
