Pros

I love that you can use a free version that’s extremely capable and buy the paid for version for some extra useful features and integration with other services and software like databases.
It makes the whole process a delight for developers that don't have to care about integrating this tool with some others like builders or version controllers. All is already included here.
Jet Brains makes wonderful IDEs as it is, but IntelliJ IDEA is the best one I've used of theirs and on top of that, its the best IDE for Java that I've used.

Pros

A very easy to use IdE with a free access makes it the best choice for c/c++ programmers and provide great features that makes the user experience very smooth.
It has a super clean UI and easy to use interface. The IDE also comes with a lot of other features like debugger, editor themes, and keymap configurations.
As a student pursuing a degree in CS at the college level, I found Code::Blocks to be a useful and user-friendly IDE for my programming projects. It had a good interface and was easy to navigate.

Cons

I commonly have problems with lag if the program has different aspects that make it heavy. Other than that, there’s not much I don’t like.
Sometimes when it lost connection (access token) to github it randomly asks for the password again, without giving proper context.
At this point I don't think there are any features that I think are missing.

Cons

The style has the same feel as software such as Notepad++ or Delphi 2010. Code suggestion/ completion is really bad, as well as error dialogs.
It has awful and outdated UI, the UX is terrible.
This software has a little slow startup and as it is an ide it has many features which can be confusing.

it is great to use specially as it is open source and also community support

Pros

It is a very user friendly IDE to code. And love it as it is open source and has a very good community support. Debugging features and different templates and color themes allow us to differentiate code blocks, errors and comments. The terminal for version support is very supportive

Cons

as the projects gets bigger it is kind of eating the CPU and sometimes IDE crashes in the middle

Easy to Configure Integrated Development Environment

Reviewed 2 years ago

We use IntelliJ IDEA almost exclusively for all our code development, code testing and code commits. This lets developers easily manage big projects without the need to open code in boring text editors.

Pros

- Easy to configure on all platforms i.e., Windows, MAC OS or Ubuntu, etc. Just download and install and ready to go.- Great integration with bitbucket or github, easily manage your code with source code repositories.

Cons

- Not very easily integrated for Spark based development, need to do a lot of manual steps to enable that.- Sometimes maven plugin doesn't work out of the box, we need to clean the project or remove maven support and then include it again.

One of the best IDE for Java Developments.

Reviewed 5 years ago

Easy to code with smart code completion process and shortcut keys helps to save our time.

Pros

With the IntelliJ IDEA, we can efficiently develop java based applications with the provided features in the platform. We can analyze our source codes in deeply and find out how should we proceed with the developments which can efficiently build and execute our applications. In fact, we can improve performances of applications by in depth analysis with the platform. We can quickly navigate and process with the shortcut keys and easy to code with IntelliJ IDEA. Also, we can have themes for the workspace and we can have supportive tools for for the developments.

Cons

Platform performance is highly depend on our computer resources and it would be great if having a RAM which is more than 4GB. It will take little bit time to startup the process with the platform if we are having less powerful computer resources.

incredible app

Reviewed 9 months ago

it's a comfortable app and safe except the cost it.s expensive little for some poor persons

Pros

IntelliJ IDEA offers advanced code analysis and suggestions, helping developers write cleaner and more efficient code. It provides code completion, quick fixes, and context-aware coding assistance.

Cons

While there is a free community edition of IntelliJ IDEA, the ultimate version with all features requires a paid license. This cost can be a drawback for some developers or organizations, especially when there are free alternatives available.

Great Java IDE!

Reviewed 6 years ago

Makes writing java code a lot easier.

Pros

Depending on the app I am currently working on, I'll bounce back and forth between IntelliJ and NetBeans. Now that I have worked with it for a while, I really like the IntelliJ package's feel and tools. I also am starting to do a fair amount of Android development and Android Studio is based on the IntelliJ platform, so I feel right at home.

Cons

When I was just starting out, it took a while to learn where some of the tools were and some of the shortcut keys to use, so I will say "learning curve".

IntelliJ can do literally everything!

Reviewed 4 years ago

We use this to add code to our code base and to run testing suites and other developmental processes. It's the tool that does it all.

Pros

I love all the functionality that IntelliJ has for coding and for connecting to seamlessly to version control and to local databases. It has the ability to work for nearly any developer or testing role.

Cons

It is a memory hog and can use so much of your computer's processing power. It also has to index your files constantly and it can take several minutes to do so.

Lighting fast and abundance of plugins

Reviewed 6 years ago

Able to write high quality code in less time.

Pros

I started off with JDeveloper (which crashes and lags big time) before I was introduced to IntelliJ by a coworker. OMG, I cannot believe the ease of user. The lighting speed navigation between one file to another, from a single to multiple projects despite having tons of plugin installed. My favorite plugin is GIT in IntelliJ, which I cannot imagine living without now.

Cons

New updates are constantly coming in and it takes time for it to be downloaded & installed. I would have to force myself to take a break from work whenever that happens.

Best IDE for writing and running automation scripts in Java for testing purposes

Reviewed 5 years ago

Best automation software IDE for testing using Java code

Pros

This IDE has been built by JetBrains unlike others like WebStorm, Eclipse, etc. It is really useful as we can create projects and write scripts in Java code for testing purposes. Running automation scripts in IntelliJ Idea is really simple and intuitive. The overall user interface is pretty simple and easy to use. It is really convenient to run automated scripts and follow the OOPS concepts. Also, it helps in structuring the code based on the language and syntax, that makes the overall readability much simple. It also shows various testing metrics like code coverage, error logs, output windows, etc. We can also integrate various tools, plugins and set dependencies by adding jar files accordingly.

Cons

Available in 2 versions: Ultimate and Community. However, to try out some JavaScript code in the application IDE, we would need the paid version

The most powerful IDE for Java and Kotlin

Reviewed a year ago

The leading and for me the most powerful IDE for Java and Kotlin apps. Provides plugin store, debugging, code inspections, git client, code completion and extended features. A bit slower and consuming more RAM memory.

Pros

Provides code editor and IDE for Java and its successor Kotlin. You can customize the IDE using the plugins from the Market store which provides free and licensed extensions. IDE implements integrated source code management tool so you don't need any GIT client. There is a possibility to debug code using the debugger mode when running the application. The best feature is code completion and code inspections which perform many tasks to check your code statically.

Cons

IDE is written in Kotlin and is a bit slower to start and run. It also consumes lots of RAM memory. You need to run more instances for more project, they can not be shown as tabs in one running instance.
