Pros

I'm thrilled with all aspects of it and have been recommending it to every colleague who asks me which EMR to try. Fantastic product, great customer service.
My staff and I are extremely happy that we ended up with Elationhealth. Everyone loves Amazon as the website is very robust and user friendly.
Nevertheless, it is a powerful system and a joy to use. I highly recommend Elation EMR for a small to medium sized practice looking for an easy-to-learn, easy-to-use system.

Pros

The ability to choose and make templates is great, the auto populate features are helpful as well and copying and pasting into and out of charts is easy enough and saves time.
I would like to give Renzi Russell and especially Tara Carney much of the recognition they deserve for providing excellent customer service and a fantastic knowledge of their positions.
Overall experience is great this program is excellent for patent care and client dr relations.

Cons

Unhappy only with mostly provider service when ongoing issues and cannot speak to live person. And lack of follow through on options such as online booking they had explicitly stated upon signing up.
The thing about it is that I am also a programmer. I work on web design, UI/UX, and frankly the UX sucks.
I have been trying to deal with this problem since early May and it is now July 13. Incredibly frustrating and I would not recommend this product to other physicians.

Cons

This review is true and result of the pain Eclinical causing our office after 2 months. Horrible, Horrible Horrible Custemor service and you can never talk to any supervisor.
If you hate your very existence on this earth then definitely use eCW for your EMR. I would rather be in prison.
It makes the overall patients experience confusing and horrible from the glitchy portal to the wrong reminders. There are so many things wrong with this product.

Most intuitive, well-designed EMR I've ever used

Reviewed 8 years ago

Go visit a practice using Elation (and compare to others using different EMR's). Ask users if they like their EMR. I haven't met a single Elation user who does not love their EMR, while it's RARE for me to find a user of any other EMR system who even remotely likes their EMR. Unfortunately, with our practice joining a larger organization, we were forced to change systems and are three weeks deep...

EHR and Practice Management

Reviewed 5 years ago

We use eCW for EHRs, population health management, quality reporting, utilization reporting and practice management functions.

Pros

The software provides the functionality needed to manage electronic health records and a growing primary health care practice at multiple clinic locations.

Cons

The reports - sometimes reports seem to pull data from fields different from the ones where you expected the data to be pulled, or calculating different than expected, such that unexpected results are produced that don't match the data inputs and results generated in another report where you expected apples to apples.

Great System

Reviewed 7 years ago

If users are willing to use to full capabilities, this system is great! Reduce time needed for outgoing referrals, no more need for the receptionist to make patient reminder calls. ECW is geared to really work with your patients. Patient reminder calls, text when RX's are sent to the pharmacy, patient recall is great for our pediatric office. It is much easier to contact our patients that are grouped into ages for needed visits and vaccines.

Pros

ECW flows well from health management to practice management

Cons

Customer service knowledge of what a physician's office needs, is lacking

This software company continues to update the software and tries to keep up with the ever changing Health care industury

Reviewed 6 years ago

Support has improved over the past 6 months. The technical teams really care about solving the issues that arise. You can really tell the staff at eClinicalworks are very committed to customer satisfaction. When so many companies are not concerned with customer satisfaction I am glad that we are using on that is.

Pros

Always changing and updating the operation of the Software to keep up with the ever changing Health Care Industry

Cons

The Software is so flexible and we have been using it since 2006 we really need to develop additional ways to make documentation of Progress notes easier for the providers. When we were trained back in 2006 to develop templates and to use the software for our Providers a lot has changed over the years. It has be difficult to keep up with all the enhancements and developments to the software. Now...

ECW is all in one scheduler, EMR and billing system

Reviewed 7 years ago

The benefit of using ECW is that it is an all in one software: scheduling, billing and EMR.

Pros

What i like most is that you can do everything you need with one software: schedule, EMR and create claims. ECW can be tailored to fit individual needs.

Cons

There is not much that I do not like about ECW. I use it for scheduling and billing for a mental health office and the only problem that we have come across is that we can only select primary, secondary or tertiary for an insurance plan but for mental health we bill managed care plans which are different than medical plans.

Functional basic EMR

Reviewed 3 years ago

Overall very functional EMR with a few small nuances.

Pros

Easy to navigate through the program. Relatively easy to order medications and eprescribe. There is a bit of a learning curve but is easy once you get the hang of the program.

Cons

The health care maintenance checks were lacking and left a lot of gaps for follow-ups. The E-prescribing was sometimes confusing when it came to choosing a location.

eCW benefits and quirks

Reviewed a year ago

It is advertised as intuitive, but is not.

Pros

helpful to order labs, imaging and connect to diagnoses. ICD 10 generator useful, adequate with notes section as well To document onset and work up.

Cons

Unfortunately, physical exam, and review of systems not easily built from scratch while interviewing the patient, but is template driven. The developers frequently change the lay out, and appearance, without enhancement of functionality. Each update creates new problems. For quality measures and health maintenance, these are not brought forward easily, it is manual . no built in suggestions for health maintenance are included. Many patches, quirky. I am not sure a physician or provider is being queried for improvements. frequent freezing of program.

E-Clinical Works for doctor's office practice

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall a decent program but seriously lacking in controls due to no audit trail.

Pros

Most electronic health records pretty much have the same format, scheduling, billing, medical records, patient demographics, etc. ECW is with par on these levels with other programs. ECW has the ability to customize to your practice needs.

Cons

ECW does not have an audit trail which is a deficiency in the program.

eCW

Reviewed 4 years ago

I like eCW better than EMR systems I’ve worked with, and I like how it’s easy to learn. Each provider has customized it to how they like it, and it has made it easy to switch from other systems.

Pros

The software is completely customizable. Two different clinics I’ve worked with use it, and I learned new things each time about what it can do. It has capabilities to be the only health care software needed in the office, and is easy to learn.

Cons

It’s hard to scan documents into system without having to close the software after and re-start it.

The Cheap Solution

Reviewed 5 years ago

I have worked with eCW for a while now, and have been extremely disappointed. They require tons of extra money for basic functionality such as reporting, and it's just not worth it.

Pros

eCW does what it should do, for the most part. As a community Health Center, it is cheap for an EHR, and for that reason, many people have chosen it as a solution. It allows us to schedule doctor's visits, and runs relatively well with multiple users.

Cons

It is a very quirky software. Once something is added (like a certain visit type) it can not be removed, making the reporting on the back end horrendous. The database structure is horrible and makes what should be easy reporting very difficult. The OB database is not connected to the patient portal, so you have to open up a different window when caring for them.

EClinicalWorks for Mental Health

Reviewed 8 years ago

My experience with EClinicalWorks for Mental Health has been less than satisfactory. While this software system may be well-liked by PCP providers it is not at all the software system to use in mental health. The system is cumbersome and ill-fitting to say the least. Why is it that software developers fail to understand that their are multiple specialties within the medical field and that many of us practice under the same roof. In addition, we would appreciate and need a medical software program that is user-friendly for all specialties. Bottom line.....unless you are a GP, this is not the medical software program for you! Save your money!

Pros

For my profession, not a thing.

Cons

Cumbersome, Expensive, Not adaptable to other medical specialties, the list goes on and on...don't forget terrible customer support!

eClinicalWorks -

Reviewed 7 years ago

eClinicalWorks serves our needs as a non-profit community health center. We have two internal employees who are eCW experts and remain up to date on all features, new releases, upgrade options, etc. Our success with eCW is that we have internal employees to turn to instead of relying on external customer service to assist us when we encounter an issue.

Pros

eClinicalWorks is fairly comprehensive, allowing us to customize template options and choose which features we want to utilize.

Cons

The upgrades for certain features, like the patient portal, are slow to be released. We have been told for years that an upgrade is on its way, but there is no release date and no further update.

Its ok

Reviewed 2 years ago

It has been ok. It's not the worst but it is not the best. I wouldn't recommend switching away from it but I definitely would not recommend for a new practice. It is cost prohibitive and clunky. They do not play nicely in the sandbox so you don't have options for other integrated items. Thankfully they recently started to allow Inbox Health for statement management.

Pros

It works. You can bill and run reports.

Cons

This is a very clunky software with subpar support. It is very expensive and not easily customizable.

No enough space to write down all the complaints about this software and their support staff

Reviewed 5 years ago

Troublesome from the start. Training was awful and we paid for 2 separate training classes for our employees. They were charging us for things that they didn't even have set up. We finally hirer an IT/Rn person that could help us with this program. Our employee is constantly telling ECW tech people what they need to do because they have no clue and we don't have the access to make the changes. We asked ECW many time to open our system so we can do what we need to and they stated that we would have to pay an additional $7000 to $10,000.

Pros

Don't know because this technical staff has no idea what they are doing not to mention all the things they've messed up like making our doctors templates disappear, to reporting our MIP's to the government incorrectly. We have everything documented and screen shot and will be turning over our findings to the Dept. of Justice and Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General. Along with the Attorney General of the Justice Departments Civil Division.

Cons

This is our breaking point when ECW employees do not know how to do they're jobs and now has affect the reputation of our Surgeons by reporting our MIP's to a government office as a group when we were clearly supposed to be reported as individual doctors. So instead of our MIP's score being above 90 on all our doctors they are now publicly score as 7.17. This will now not only make us lose money we should have received from the government but can actually cost us money on our reimbursements. We have spent all morning on the phone with QPP to try to correct this error and are getting no support for ECW. We have tried all morning to reach out to people at ECW and no one will take our call. WE ARE NOW TALKING THIS IS OUR SURGEONS REPUTATION TO ARE AFFECTING!!!!!

Terrible, terrible EMR. Don't buy it, I beg you. I'm taking early retirement from my group in large part because of this program.

Pros

I honestly like almost nothing about eCW. My practice switched from a fairly basic but very functional EMR (SRS Health) to eCW about a year ago. It has been an unmitigated disaster. The training was terrible, the support slow to respond generally and the user experience unbelievably frustrating. I've wasted so much time clicking around trying to complete the most basic tasks it makes me want to cry. If forced to pick a pro, I'd say...actually I can't think of anything. I hate it.

Cons

1. Illogical workflow. I could go on a long time about this but I don't have room. 2. The web version and desktop version are significantly different so if you go home to finish notes, which I have to do almost every night, you have to remember to do many tasks two different ways. Here's one frustrating difference. You can fax prescriptions from the desktop version but can not from the web version which means if I have a controlled substance to send in I have to wait until the next day when I get back to the office and can use the desktop version. 3. There are too many other cons to list. They are mostly numerous little things that slowly drive you mad. Morale at our office has been terrible since we changed to eCW.

We are a small but very busy dermatology practice and depend on effeciency to produce quality and affordable health care to our patients while at the same time running our practice in the most profitable manner possible. eClinicalWorks has been our EMR/EPM of choice since we opened our doors in 2009 and we continue to rely on it to help us reach our operational goals. GroupOne Health Source helps us...

I am the office manager for a 3 physician family practice group in Arizona. Group One Health Source has been very good at helping with any issues that have come up. I can call at any time and get answers. I am very happy with our liaison. It is very reassuring that I can count on her to help with any questions or problems, and know that everything will be taken care of properly. The coding team is a great resource. I have reccommended Group One in the past and would reccommend them again.

eCW Review

Reviewed 8 years ago

e-Clinical Works has been a decent EHR to assist us here at our facility. As a health care facility more time should be spent treating and providing care for patients instead of being on the phone with technical support. The technical support, for the most part, seems to have a lot of language barriers and they require a third party communication avenue to communicate with the computers. It is our hope that eCW 10e provides a less complex approach and resolves some of the current bugs faced with the 10 version.

The Best EHR on the Market

Reviewed 10 years ago
Pros

We love the cloud product and have been using it for nearly 9 years. I have not worried about a server backup or hardware upgrade for our production system in many, many years. We enjoy exceptional uptime and lots of cool features for everything from charge capture to population health management to HCC RAF capture. We have 17,000 web enabled patients, 5,000 of whom are logging in at least once per month. This has really helped reduce phone volume and increase continuity. Many of them are using the product on their smart phones to coordinate and understand their care. The eBO product delivers interesting, customizable, and actionable reporting.

Cons

As with all EHRs, they have been in rapid cycle deployment since 2008, as dictated by the federal government. This has resulted in some bugs and some delays in clinical development while the arcane and pretentious directives of the Meaningful Use program are achieved.
