Pros

It does help create meaningful process instructions that helps the manufacturing process flow more smoothly. It helps track shipments and OTD which is beneficial to our organization.
I like the integration with QuickBooks for small businesses, I recommend this option instead of using the accounting in JobBoss. I am extremley happy with the way this works.
Support staff are nice and helpful and they always walk me through anything I've mucked up. The program is easy to use, it's not real complicated, more user friendly then some packages out there.

Pros

Material tracking for quality assurance. Genius Customer Success team is always on top to make sure we succeed with any problems/ideas arise.
I liked it's system setup, ease of use, report editing ability is among the best with Report Builder and online control. BOM layout and ability to edit an order specific BOM with ease.
Our integration team was amazing, they went above and beyond to understand the business and successfully customized genius to match our processes which was no small task.

Cons

This often led to data entry errors, information not available when needed, and frustration throughout the organization.
Use the parts you have correctly, and fully. Get buy in from everyone or you will end up with bad data.
Most of their updates are just "bug fixes. They have an idea portal for users to submit feedback, but I seriously doubt they even consider any of these.

Cons

We soon found out that the SW to Genius tool was 100% useless for doing revisions/changes.
It is also impossible to streamline the interface or customize it in any way with many redundant and irrelevant fields left to confuse users.
Performing a root cause analysis of the business as a whole, data re-entry errors was the root cause to many widespread issues for us.

We ended up having to switch to Genius ERP to better fit our company's needs in COGS, job costing, and inventory.

Pros

It was very easy and smooth to use. Flowed easy among costing jobs and inventory useage.

Cons

It was very limited. There was no way of expanding searches, expanding customizations we wanted to make.

We do not have most recent iteration of E2's shop tech system.

Pros

Usability as a job shop ERP system. Not all ERP systems can serve as a job shop companies ERP system.

Cons

High implementation cost forces users to use for a long time and not upgrade to a new system that contains cloud systems every couple of years. Interface is slow, confusing and not friendly to use.

Small manufacturing business ERP options

My client is the US startup for an international company. We needed our own ERP platform, ability to install and bring it operational with little resources on our side. The E2 online training and some assistance from support staff worked really well.

Pros

I found E2 to offer the right balance of features - to - complexity for a small manufacturing business. During the selection process, I noticed different strengths and weaknesses across their competitors offerings. And one thing that really stood out was the availability and professional behavior of the E2 Shop System support team. Who've been excellent to work with, support our business and implementation.

Cons

Nothing specific comes to mind. I have a strong experience with MRP, MRP-II, then ERP platforms.

For the price, I believe JobBoss is a great ERP system for a small Job Shop.

Pros

Integrated Payroll, Scheduling, G/L. The software package has all of your basic needs at the right price.

Cons

Everything runs through a report to look at information. Few query screens. Complex reports are hard to modify in Crystal.

It was great after we spent another $19k on everything we needed from a functionality standpoint....customer service leaves several things to be desired

Pros

It ran my shop during a time when we couldn't afford to do much else as far as ERP was concerned.

Cons

TERRIBLY NON-INTUITIVE SYSTEM, features that were advertised are not available because of "functionality trademarks", customer service is not terribly helpful and seems ill-equipped to handle basic questions or offer solutions that are realistic

There are no benefits to this software that could not have been realized in other ways.

Pros

This definitely seemed like it would be an excellent ERP resource to track from quote, to order, to production, to shipping, to billing. It is NOT.

Cons

UI is not intuitive, search functions are confusing at best, many "modules" that you may or may not need, and poor training to discern which would be best for your company; implementation for businesses who already use an inventory tracking system is cumbersome; limited editability of databases once created; customer service is abysmal, high turnover of employees/contacts, shady billing practices, poor training opportunities, cloud services outsourced, support is drastically lacking for both the software and the cloud storage, capabilities misrepresented by sales team, unethical behaviour.

E2 is the ERP that gives the big name ERP's a Run for there money!!

Pros

I have used multiple ERP systems some of them rather expensive with a large learning curve, when I went looking for a ERP system for our machine shop, one of the leading criteria was that the ERP would have, or support the AS9100 standard. E2 was the only one that offered a QA module to help create our AS9100 documentation, then as a bonus E2 had a consultant come out and help set up our AS9100 Quality...

Cons

The only Area I have had a challenge with would be the timeclock buzzer, the timeclock portion is provided by one of E2's partners and we recently had the buzzer stop working well, the e2 sofware is pinging the correct signal however the buzzer is not working correctly. So really this doesnt seem to be a E2 issue it is a computerwise issue (computerwise is the timeclock system)

Choosing an ERP software is a tough decision and can take a lot of time, talk to JobBoss users because they will make the decision much easier.

Pros

All modules are fully integrated which makes it very simple to get accurate and valuable information for running your business.

Cons

JBW inventory related to sheet and plate products is a challenge and in all honesty doesn't work in the real world of job shops.

Great ERP

Implementing E2 Shop filled some of the gaps in our work flow and made the transition to our quality certification much easier by consolidating several of the record keeping and reporting in a central location.

Pros

The cloud base platform is a significant improvement from the local-hosted version. They also have fantastic technical support. The interface is very intuitive and easy to learn even for first time ERP users.

Cons

The ability to navigate database as a tables, sort and customize columns for quick viewing is missing. An option to pull as report is available but adds a few extra steps. The scheduling module is very rigid and does not have much options for customization.

Jobboss has been a great ERP system for our size company. It has allowed us to keep track of material jobs, and get things done in our fast paced environment.

Pros

This software is very easy to use, make changes to. Provides great visibility to see the status of jobs. Very easy to quote jobs, collect production data, and keep us running.

Cumbersome, Clunky, One-Size-Does Not Fit All ERP Software

I've been working with Shoptech for just over a year and gave it my best effort. We have implemented many work arounds to try and work within the forced system. However, there are glaring issues around each corner and fixes are painfully slow to be implemented. Although the software is cloud-based there are many features of a cloud based software that are not being utilized. For example, records do not save until the user clicks save (standard cloud based software packages retain the information as the user updates it).

Pros

The concepts at a very high level are good. The modules and work flow make sense in general. The basic concepts are all good and at the core are what is needed out of an ERP system.

Cons

Where to start... 1. The number of clicks to accomplish a simple task is unreal and extremely time consuming. 2. Lack of customization - each company is very different in operation yet all are forced into a solution that does not work for all. Simple issues such as the way tables are viewed are forced by Shoptech and not able to be customized. 3. Customer service - Many issues raised by the online...

We have used E2 for 8+ years and it definitely is a step above excel sheets etc. However, we are having to move onto a new ERP because our company has outgrown E2.

Pros

I like E2, it is easy to use BUT not for a medium to large size company. It is also more for manufacturing only.

Cons

It is not flexible, cannot add fields, and customize to your business very well. When you do want to customize something, you pay a fee.

This product has helped turn around ALL reporting compared to our old ERP solution. It is simple to use and everything seems to flow the way it should from RFQ to Invoicing, this system was a no-brainer for our manufacturing company.

I wish the online training and manuals were up to date with the latest version. I also would like to see more help with Crystal Reports.

Some of the add on modules such as Serialization can be difficult to fix errors when users make mistakes.

Pros

JobBoss is a flexible and modular system that can expand with business growth. When utilized fully it can provide a complete view of order status and companywide financial health.

Cons

As with all database built ERP systems if you do not setup the system and your processes to flow with the core database links, you will have a difficult time getting useful data out of the system because you are not putting useful data in.

Good value for small manufacturing business

Has been a good system to run business with.

Pros

Relatively simple ERP system. Has most of what you want in a system to manage and operate a business. Not necessary to add bolt-on software. As with any software, keep it clean, up to date and organized and it will provide the appropriate output.

Cons

Needs a few items for specific tasks. Should be able to zero out inventory in mass using specific parameters (for a physical inventory). Some screens don't link enough details together ie., Quick view should have invoice, receiver #, PO # all on one screen. Same for orders. Screen should have Cust PO, Job #, Pack list, Invoice #. All for quick "1 screen reference".

I'm very happy with this system and would recommend.

Pros

I think what drew us to this ERP system from the start is the aesthetics. It's got a great color scheme and easy to find your way around the system with the color coded sections and icons. A close second is the flexibility you have with E2. You can pretty easily undo mistakes and recreate packing slips, invoices, etc.

Cons

I want to be able to customize the reports more easily. I don't know how to use their Report Designer and it's not easily self-taught.

Commonwealth Tool was using multiple applications to track job costing, scheduling, routing and quoting. E2 was the only ERP solution we found to combine everyone’s work into a central system. You see, Commonwealth Tool does not typically operate in a production environment, and that is why we chose Shoptech. Most ERP programs are geared for production. While E2 does a very good job at this, it can also handle one-to-one products, which is what we needed. We are custom machine builders and each and every job is unique. The support from E2 has been outstanding and without wait times. The software is also easy to manage from an IT standpoint.
