We used Hubstaff for a while then have to change for functional reasons. Also, it wasn't affordable. We switch to WebWork Time Tracker. It's only $2.99 per/user. They have great features, especially for hybrid teams. Attendance monitoring, Time Tracking with screenshots, Apps & Website usage monitoring.
Hubstaff is good software. I like their GPS tracking feature which was new for me.
It's hard to use, especially when our team became larger, there is a lack of needed features.
Thank you for your valuable feedback. We're so happy to read you find the GPS feature useful, and would like to learn more about what other features might help you and your team become more productive. Please send an email to us at support@hubstaff.com and we'll be glad to consider your ideas!

Great product and a great team maintaining the product.
I love the simplicity of the product. It is easy to track time. And at the end of two weeks, I can generate a report of my activities over the past two weeks and send an invoice to the client. When the client views the invoice, I know he has viewed it. And when he pays, I close the invoice at my end. And the client can see it. Very good tool for freelancers to track their time.
When I manually enter time in the backend, the added time does not reflect in the time tracker. You have to close the time tracker and open it again for the manually added time to reflect in the time tracker. This is a known problem and customer support guided me with the workaround (close and reopen).

Hubstaff is a easy program to use for time tracking. It is ideal for anyone working remotely. It has many other useful features for program managers and payroll - which requires playing around with the features to get to understand where everything is. But if you just want to log time, it's easy to use and anyone can do it.
Hubstaff's time tracker is great and convenient to use. Having a Chrome extension available makes it even better as the tracker is available right in my browser so that I can pause and resume time tracking easily when needed.
Despite all of the reporting options available, it can sometimes be difficult to find where to get an overview of the hours worked for a specific time period (using dates). I had to look through all the sections a few times to find it. I also don't like that it goes idle if you're not physically using the mouse - such as when I'm in a Zoom meeting (which is still work). Even though you can still count those hours, they still negatively effect the productivity score.
Hello Leri, thank you for providing us with this detailed review of our platform! The "Time and Activity" report would be the best report for you to use, in order to get the time worked by a specific member of the organisation, for the period of time desired. When it comes to the idle time that Hubstaff records, it does record the time during which there is no activity recorded by the user, via the usage of mouse and/or keyboard. If you find yourself in meetings where you are going idle too often, you may want to consider increasing the idle timeout from the default value of 5 minutes to a different one to better suit your needs. Additionally, when it comes to the activity percentage calculation, it is possible for the activity of certain projects to not be counted towards the overall activity calculation. So, a project called "Meetings" could be created, with the activity tracking disabled for it, and that could be used specifically for tracking time to meetings.

Good software. Useful reports. Probably I can recommend this service.
Not good UX for adding time manually. If you don't use time tracker you may have a bad experience to add time manually.

We needed an independent time tracker to get out of a freelance platform that took a commission out of the earnings and hubstaff was great
I like the simplicity of it and that the time tracker is very accurate, to the second
When I open the web version to see my earnings and time worked, it's the opposite of simplicity. Every time it takes me a few minutes to find what I a looking for. There are just too many pages

Overall very good experience.
As an It professional this software helps in collaborating with QA developers and Project management team very easily. Also the time tracker feature helps in checking required time for the individual projects to be done.
Sometimes the time tracker becomes unresponsive but it is a very rare case. I can recommend it to others.

I'd rate the Hubstaff tracker an 8 out of 10. I like it best because it doesn't lag when I used it and it doesn't slow my computer down.
I like that it's not heavy on my computer but can still take the necessary screenshots and task recording. It also integrates easily with several of the other apps that I use for work, so that's a win. I can just complete a task via Hubstaff and it automatically completes the Asana task connected to it. That's a timesaver.
Every time there's a new update, just updating the app I've already installed doesn't work. I have to uninstall and reinstall the tracker manually each time.

It feels a little odd having my screen captured, and the "activity" percentages don't reflect time I spend reading, etc, but it seems like an easy way for my employer to track my work hours.
It's extremely easy to use, and it records activity in a way that benefits me and my employer.
If time is deleted or added manually, that does not always show up in my tracker window, which makes estimating time spent per day more difficult.
Hi Hanna, I wanted to thank you for the nice review! I also wanted to let you know that you should be able to hit the refresh icon at the bottom of your app after time is added or subtracted manually and have it show up in the app. Please contact us anytime at https://support.hubstaff.com if there are questions. I'm able to use it to replace my Upwork time tracker, which doesn't work on my Chromebook I use for travel.
It's really convenient, and a well-known App/service so I can send timesheets to clients without them being questioned. The drop-down list of projects right in my browser is quikc and easy.
The set-up process is unclear on teams and projects - it guides you to set up other companies and integrations, when all I needed was to set up my clients as projects. The setup wizard stopped halfway. It's not designed for solo user accounts. Part of the Menu is hidden behind a button that says Get Started which never went away after I got started.

It was a good experience however we just moved to a different time tracker as we need to integrate our own system with the time tracker at a lower cost. We did a get a refund once but it never happened again, and this was due to some tech issues on their end.
Hub staff is very convenient to use and very detailed as screenshots from what the workers were doing are available but it isn't readily available real time. The interface is user-friendly. The percentage of work and movement is there, so you kind of have the idea if the worker is idle or not, hub staff capture 3 random screenshots every 10 minutes so it does really help a lot in catching workers who are doing unrelated things while they should be doing work. Apart from this, the admin can restrict the workers from deleting the screenshots but it could also be enabled in the setting, when screenshots are deleted, it also deducts the 10 mins. Both admins and users can add time manually depending on what you set up. With the support people, I think they are okay, but can only be reached through emails and chatbox on the website.
One of the issue 90% of us encountered with hubstaff is with setting up, the timezone is really hard to set up, but hubstaff provided a troubleshooting guide link also posted on their website, but still it is quiet techy for someone who is not tech savvy. Another thing that I least like about the software is that, they can't track real time, which I think is very essential for most businesses. They don't have a live monitoring set up. The Customer service is good, however it is very unconvenient to reach them, I would really prefer them to have a phone line so I don't have to type a very long email explaining about my technical issues. Apparently, they can only be contacted through chatbox in their website (which is not 24/7) and through emails. Lastly, I really don't like how google gives ideas and accesses on tutorials on how to bypass the hubstaff system. There are a couple of ways a worker can bypass the hubstaff system and it may seem to you that the worker is working but actually not. Applications and tricks are available online.

We use this to log our project time as we work on different client's projects. It's easy t record time, and I like that it directly works with pay roll and paychecks for all employees.
The productivity tracker (tracking time mouse isn't moving) and screenshots of work screen can be misleading, when working off the computer for certain tasks.

I use it every day and am satisfied with the WebWork tracker.
User-friendly interface with many tracking options
The activity/productivity tracking appears to result in higher counts compared to tools like Hubstaff time tracker. Additionally, when the internet connection is slow, the tracker stops working. It might be helpful if the tracker could function autonomously without an internet connection and then sync logs and screenshots once the connection is restored.
Thank you for the review, Alexander. You've clearly outlined the strengths of WebWork Tracker, such as its user-friendly interface and diverse tracking options, alongside areas for improvement like its overreporting and reliance on a stable internet connection. Your practical insights help highlight where the tool excels and where it could be enhanced for better user experience.
