We are in software development ourselves and this whole platform reeks of something that was built by cheap, overseas, outsourced development teams, OR it was something that has been rushed to market. You need to avoid Time Doctor and Staff.com like the plague. The two companies are linked and perhaps merging because recently Staff.com had a message on their website that said something to the effect...
Having to email their support to cancel my account...I'm joking that was just the last annoying thing I was forced to do with this company. Nothing...I like absolutely nothing about it.
Absolutely terrible piece of software. I cannot for the life of me understand why this software has such high ratings. We used it for about six months and had nothing but problems with it. Some of the issues were: 1. Time not syncing between mobile, desktop, and web clients. 2. Time not accurately being tracked. 3. Unable to archive old project-tasks or projects. 4. Tasks and projects not syncing...
The customer has some genuine problems. We put the full attention of our team on these problems and they are all now solved. However they are very unhappy and have been posting the same negative review on multiple review sites. I think the review is unfair given that 99%+ of our customers are very happy and give us great reviews, and very few people had the problems that this customer had with...

Very happy I moved from Time Doctor to Hubstaff. Huge improvements on all areas and a satisfying product to use. The experience is so good that I find myself wanting to stay with Hubstaff regardless of whether my need for time tracking reduces.
- Integrated Task Management platform (Hubstaff Tasks) allows for agile style task management that feeds appropriate tasks to user's timers. - Nice user interface - Good reporting functions - Thorough tracking options - Client/project budgets - Very good Customer Support
- I discovered some bugs during usage (which the developers have ironed out) - Time off / holiday allowance policy function is a great addition, but doesn't allow enough granularity as decimals of hours (or minutes) can't be used.
Hey Ewan, hope all is well with you and thank you for the kind words. You can now request time off exactly down to the minute. Cheers!

I love it! Still use it and recommend to other colleagues.
I like that it comes with the integrated time doctor, detailed reports for the team activity & productivity, as well as the recruitment Hubstaff Talent platform, I'd say it's the best remote hiring platform. Have found many employees from there.
There's no payroll integration with Payoneer. It's tough to do payroll with limited options.

Free software for independent consultants who needs a simple but reliable tool to track their time worked
Easy to track my time, identifies idle time and suggests deletion of idle time, you can add manual time easily
Dashboard can be improved to make it easier to see total hours by month or by week without having to enter filter criteria as summing up a month

Tracking time of members. Easy to implement. Easy to track time in real time.
Cannot track my people and get individual reports. No guidance. Not intuitive. Waste way too much time trying to figure this out.

Putting time is time consuming itself.
I would say integration with Jira, but it's bugfull and not intuitive. Why some tasks are not appeared in hubstuff, what do I have to do for them to appear in hubstaff, etc.
Bugs in web portal like weird layouts, visual bugs: with recent update all of the icons look the same: just empty squares, because your you didn't provide appropriate CORS headers and Chrome blocked loading your custom fonts.

Tracking inactive time and billing non existent time
Hello Semitala, thank you for providing us with this review of your experience of the platform. Please note that Hubstaff does offer the functionality to have idle (inactive) time automatically removed from the platform, once the user is back from such a period of time. This, once enabled, ensures that the inactive time is removed without it ending up having to be billed towards your organisation and/or client(s).

time tracking shown in an easy-to-view and use manner.
I really like the reporting and time tracking features and the flexibility to break out time logged on the time and activities report.
it's not a con, but i'd like to see date/timestamp of the hours worked per day, along with the current view of time entries too.

I have had quite a positive experience with Hubstaff
Tracks activity rate & allows me to manage my time & my teams time better
screen tracking... more productivity reporting tools would be amazing. ease of creating projects and tasks that users can make themselves and i get a report. Instead of me needing to make projects...

This is not ideal for freelancers. Maybe if you work remotely for Dell or something.
Ease of creating and sending an invoice, ability to view your hours and pay at a glance
having to go through emailing someone else to add projects, creating to dos, as well as adding manual time entries: you can't move the add time window to see when your last time ended, the prompted start time hubstaff gives you when you try to add a time entry is an earlier time that will replace your previous time entry, you have to exit the add time window to add a to do

It's being great. Support has been always really helpful and quick to respond.
The time tracking system, which allows my staff to record their time very effectively.
The billing system, because you charge us according to the number of users we have, but this is only applicable within certain thresholds. For example, the costs are the same if someone has 4 or 5 users.

I like that you can time different projects within a job. It helps me with time management and to know what I spend the most time doing.
I wish it was easier to have multiple jobs, working for different people. I think it might be possible already, but I haven't figured it out yet.

Tracking my team's time to see if they match our biz priorities, own time for to see what tasks I'm spending the most time on, and tracking my time for consulting.
Super easy to use. Choose the project and hit "play". I also really appreciate that it detects when I'm not active for a while and automatically prompts me to remove any time, then either resume or stop timing.
Like all time trackers, I often forget to start it... and end up starting it later and adjusting manually. I'm not sure if there's a mobile app, but I definitely forget to start it in meetings.
Hi Cody! We do have a mobile app for both iOS and Android. https://app.hubstaff.com/download. If you are often forgetting to start your time tracker, you can set up a reminder to track for specific times! To do this, open your app's preferences menu and then set the reminder there. Let us know if you need help at support@hubstaff.com

Overall it helped me to organize and use time more effectively which is a good thing as I was wasting more time browsing social media.
As a teacher, I need to get updated in my field and I have limited time in my hand, so I use HubSpot as my time management system. It helps me to get all my time spending under one roof and show me where I am wasting my time. It helps me to get more time for reading books and less on social media. I love how I can now visualizing my 24 hour time spending and get more time efficient.
I am not an expert on time management, but this workes for me. But sometimes it can't sync my offline data, which gets lost.

Benefits primarily come in quality assurance of our team abroad that their time is spent working on tasks for our company. It makes keeping track and issuing payments with eaze.
Easy to set up, trusted timer/metrics and makes paying freelancers quick, easy and pain-free. Hubstaff team is available to answer questions and respond to inquiries same day.
Improvements can be made in regards to having many team members across different time zones to show their time and the employers time zone.

Great product and a great team maintaining the product.
I love the simplicity of the product. It is easy to track time. And at the end of two weeks, I can generate a report of my activities over the past two weeks and send an invoice to the client. When the client views the invoice, I know he has viewed it. And when he pays, I close the invoice at my end. And the client can see it. Very good tool for freelancers to track their time.
When I manually enter time in the backend, the added time does not reflect in the time tracker. You have to close the time tracker and open it again for the manually added time to reflect in the time tracker. This is a known problem and customer support guided me with the workaround (close and reopen).

Simple and intuitive to use.
Allows me to delete blocks of time where I left the tracker on by mistake. Stops tracking time if there's an interruption in the internet connection. Stops tracking time if computer is idle, A dashboard to check how I spent my time
Not sure if this is an organization setting but it does not allow me to customize time zone settings. Specifically, the clock resets at 0 When I pass midnight which makes it difficult for me reliable keep track of my total hours. Sometimes when I visit the dashboard website I get the message "You are using an outdated browser" even thought my browser is .
Hi Nigel! Thank you so much for dropping us a review! We sincerely appreciate it! We're happy to hear that you find our app easy to use! Please take note that our app is designed to always reset back to 0:00 at midnight. However, if you're having some issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at support@hubstaff.com and the team will be happy to assist you! Thanks again for your kind review and we look forward to hearing from you! Have a good day!
