Pros

One of its best features is how well it integrates with other systems. It's been an industry standard for years and is a safe bet when your payment processor needs to play nice with other programs.
Authorize.net is very user friendly and easy to use. The search functionality is superb, and allows use to locate transactions with ease.
It's quick, amazingly reliable, and super easy to use. I appreciate the time value of this software and love how quickly I can collect card information.

Pros

I love the simplicity of the software. I love being able to accept credit card or debit card payments directly on my phone with the small noninvasive card reader that i attach to my phone.
I love this software, our employees love it too because it gives them better tips at the end of the day.
Simple reporting is my favorite feature, especially compared to other platforms. Helping my clients with meaningful reporting without having to modify the data is super convenient.

Cons

My clients couldn't even ask for a refund. All they could do was dispute the charges that were on hold and if they did that it would hurt my account and my credit.
And I'm not only referencing the issue I had with the transaction limit (where I was obviously frustrated), I have had several communications and about half were less than friendly/helpful.
I would never use Authorize.net again. Any client that I have that uses Authorize.net, I refuse to work with.

Cons

I do not think I have have anything I do not like about square payments. I guess if you put in the wrong email that can be annoying but that more user error.
I had to walk around & often ended up some distance away from the customer. It was awkward because I had to have their card with me & this probably made the customer feel uneasy.
It also bothered me that they charge more to type in the card numbers when you’re unable to swipe the card in person.

Pros

I enjoyed not having to pay I price for equipment that I need WiFi for and plug for offsite Events

Cons

I will still use Venmo, PayPal and Square Zelle for my Sales at events.

A Bit Dated, But Functional

Overall, positive experience. Had one day where the servers went down and were unable to take payment for a couple hours. Other than that, zero outages or complaints.

Pros

We've had very little problems with fraudulent payment attempts. Security settings are quite customizable and ease of setup is good.

Cons

The interface is a little outdated. Other processors like Square and Stripe feel more sleek and modern, more navigable.

Authorize allows our office to be efficent in collecting payments for our campaigns and track donors. It also is a quick way to look up past payments in the transaction search-- a feature we use weekly!

Pros

Our office can do everything with Authorize.net...track payments, set up recuuring billing, recharge community members. Our favorite feature is how we get an email everytime someone uses the credit card form on our website so we do not have to go into Authroize.net to pull up information.

Cons

Our office would benefit from the last 4 digits of the credit card in the email that is sent to us after someone makes a payment.

Overall, Authorize.net helped us solve the problem we were having collecting credit card payments securely.

Pros

Authorize.net has made it possible for us to accept payment from our customers even when they're not present. Parents can also pay for college students repairs.

Cons

There is no text to pay feature. Right now we can only email invoices. Also, there is no integration with our point of sale so we have to create a separate invoice in order to collect payment.

Pros

Authorize.net seems like a bare-bones commerce solution software. I am able to make ecommerce possible through buttons, though there are limitations to the design of the button (much like PayPal), and the payment pages are straight-forward. The coding to add to the website is clear, which is helpful.

Cons

I do no like that payments are organized by day and you cannot research payments made according to the category of payment. The data retrieval is not user-friendly, and it means that a lot of time will be spent just researching a customer's payment details.

We use Authorize.net as the primary way of collecting payments for anyone that is purchasing merchandise from our online store. Our organization uses Authorize.net for more than just our online store, so it’s nice having most payments come in via the same means.

Pros

Easy way to collect payment from our online store.

Cons

Don’t really have anything bad to say. Last time a fraud order came in, we tried refunding via authorize.net and it didn’t go through initially while refunding from the backend of our store. Then went in directly to authorize.net and we were able to successfully refund.

Authorize.net helps us take and track payments. We have been using it for 8+ years with my company and haven't had many issues. We use it with several different POS systems and the support provided whenever there are issues is great. They have one of the most effective chat for help options I have ever used.

Pros

Authorize.net makes it super easy to take payments through our ticketing system. If we weren't able to link these programs getting payments would take a lot more effort, but this provides ease for the front and back end.

Cons

The software uses another third party processor that adds additional fees, but overall doesn't harm the effectiveness of the program.

Holds Funds like PayPal Does - Avoid.

I'm not saying that Authorize.net does not work for everybody. But the digital marketer is in particular I would steer clear because it has the same issues that PayPal exhibits were sometimes a hold your funds for no reason and you have to fight to get them. Youre flagged as high risk I was a customer with Authorize.net for about three months and I was approved for ACH bank transfers by their credit...

Pros

It was very easy to set up recurring payments and sync with my webmaster.

Cons

- The UI is extremely outdated and looks like it's from the early 2000s. - Your invoices are not customizable and they look tacky - Navigating around the menu is not user-friendly as finding where you're trying to go and can be difficult - Customer support is not the greatest and sometimes I can't help you with your problems or get back to you in a timely matter

We have had a successful number of years using authorize.net, and it has made a great alternative to other payment gateways that we've used. However in recent months we've been feeling the limitations of the platform, and so we're now looking at migrating.

Pros

Authorize.net have a great range of features such as subscription, storing customer data, email notifications for payments made. This suite of features is essential for the day to day running of our business. Vastly improved customer support.

Cons

Payments take a long time to clear. The UI of the authorize.net seems very dated and is clunky to use.

I use this software minimally but what I manage is charging payments and running reports. It's very easy to find past charges and they make it easy to keep track but providing ID numbers on every transaction.

Cons

I don't use all features on this product but I have not had any problems with the area I manage. Payments and Reporting.

East of use! Technicians can run credit cards in the field directly from their cell phones! Payments are process quickly!!

Pros

This program is so simple and easy for my technicians to use in the field to get direct payment - and allows us to have minimal accounts receivables!

Cons

Doesn't work when there is not cell phone coverage. We also have to change the passwords quarterly - and the system does not give us any warning on this.

If a problem arises, our customers normally contact Authorize directly by phone. They won't usually respond to me directly since I am not the account holder. As the IT contact for our customers, it would be nice to more easily be able to contact Authorize without having to go through the customer for technical issues.

Pros

This is a great payment processing software. It's very easy to take customer payments or even refund them when needed.

Cons

The reporting functions could be a little bit more user friendly and have more options for getting information.

Does what I need it to do

Pros

We use Authorize.net to take payments for various events, programs, and membership dues. My favorite thing about it is that it is easy to use. This is the first payment gateway that I had ever used and it was very easy to learn how to search, make payments, and pull reports with no help.

Cons

I have never had a problem with Authorize.net. However, I have had people call and ask for data in our account who were not Authorize.net representatives. They tried to walk me through different steps as if they were affiliated with them in some way.

It works rapidly, without fail (except if the card stripe is terrible). Square gives information input at every one of the basic points which can be switched off in the event that you don't need it. I additionally love Square's approaches: evaluating, choice for quicker settlement, and they offer loads of different elements for private venture. I don't utilize those yet they look very great. I've utilized Authorize.net, Braintree, Stripe, and Endlessly Square is far superior to the rest.

Pros

I love the fact there was more options at every turn especially with the different payment metods like cash app etc. It saves a spreadsheet like feature that can integrate into your accounting software, and I found this to be very easy.

Cons

I think if more payment methods was available, it would be a complete all in one POS system.

Square Payments

Taking payment is a breeze with Square, and the integrations are great!

Super easy to use, easy to process refunds and easy to see how you are doing (volume of business and sales averages) all due to some great reporting tools. We moved away simply because we thought we needed to find a real "business" processor -- turns out, Square is a legit business processor which zero mystery fees which makes it easier for us to predict revenue flow. Can be quite frustrating paying a high fee on the majority of your transactions, because the processor smacks you with the "reward card" designation on most transactions. Not an issue with Square, you see the rate and that is the rate you pay, no questions asked.

Pros

We have used many different payment solutions over the years. Most recently we have been using Authorize.net, and while they processed payments just fine, the system is super old and can be frustrating to use. Square is not so, rather they are super easy to use and grow with. Not having to jump through hoops each year to be recertified as PCI compliant (questionnaires and network scans on our end) is really a great bonus we never even knew about before temporarily moving away. We have obviously since moved back and cannot be happier.

Cons

For our photography studio, the biggest drawback was just the taking of the payments, it really didn't feel as professional as it could be when we had to use our phones for large client orders. That has since become an issue in the past as they have so many options now, including the new Square Terminal which we bought and love to death! So really, the biggest flaw we had, has been resolved.
