Pros

I have been able to draw a lot and draw much more quickly thanks to the available assets so my creative workflow has improved greatly with this software.
On top of the quality of the default brushes and tools in this application, there is also an entire community's worth of assets within the program itself that you can download and use.
This software is a great alternative to Procreate, it does have a large learning curve but once you set it up the way you like it has such a nice flow to it.

Pros

It is an excellent piece of software I recommended to all of my colleagues and they are very happy with it. I can definitely recommend Affinity Designer, you will not regret buying it.
They were not only the best, but the most human and kind. And that is the kind of company I want to give my money to.
Wonderful program, easy to use, great in connection with the two other programs from Affinity, superlow price. I'm so happy I discovered these programs from Affinity.

Cons

I just really hate that Ipad/Android version has no one-time purchase plan just like the PC. Also, when I tried to use it on a tablet, I find it very confusing and way more complex than on a PC.
Recently, Clip Studio had an update that distressed many of its users because it stated they would be changing their payment method to a subscription service.
Otherwise, I really don't have much to complain about.

Cons

The layers functionality was confusing. No auto trace which was the huge disappointment for us.
A few, very few, features that I would expect in a high-grade design program are missing or difficult to use.
A little confusing initially mostly because transitioning from other software.

Affinity is like a more advanced paint

Reviewed 5 years ago

Overall, affinity has helped me get important task i needed to get done properly.

Pros

I only started using this recently, but not as often. I used it because a friend installed it for me. It was like an upgrade to paint and downgrade to photoshop. It has great features. The big plus is that its simple to use!

Cons

I do not like that i was limited in doing certain things that i would have be able to in photoshop. However, i could be just me not knowing how.

Great Design Program

Reviewed 4 years ago

Mostly love it. I am able to do what I need to do.

Pros

I love that I did not have to pay ongoing for this tool. I paid once and own it for life. I am not a graphics designer and am self-taught and I find it fairly easy to use.

Cons

Most of the things I don't like are really my own lack of skills in design and in learning more about this program. I do wish there were some basic clip art drawings to use.

Affinity Designer - a great, cost-efficient alternative to Adobe Illustrator

Reviewed 2 years ago

Everyday I use Affinity Designer to create social media artwork for my charity project. I used Affinity Designer each day to import clip-art from my Alibre Design Expert CAD software to create engineering and sales presentations. I have used Affinity Designer to import, edit PDF's and then output new PDFs. This software is a fantastic, low-cost, high-value tool that everyone should have in their toolbox.

Pros

For many years I worked with the Adobe Suite tools, including Illustrator. Each year I had paid over $600 to rent these tools in a subscription. One day I discovered Affinity Designer. I put it through all the tests of art design functions I normally used Illustrator for. I was absolutely blown away that I could literally do everything I once did in Illustrator. The best part is, not only the price of Affinity Designer 1/12 that of Adobe Illustrator subscription, but I actually own Affinity Designer. I love this software. In fact, I went back and purchased all of their art tool lines: Affinity Photo, Publisher, and art-tool add-ons. I own all of these Affinity art tools at a fraction of the cost of one Adobe Suite subscription.

Cons

I have no negative comments about Affinity Designer.

Viable one-time-purchase option to get out of Adobe's subscription model

Reviewed a year ago

I have a one-person business where I design 2D files for laser cutting, as well as doing my own graphic design for packaging and promotional materials, photography, post-processing, etc. I am not a "power user" of Adobe CC or CS but I'm looking for something good at doing detailed vector artwork that doesn't feel like I'm back in the 1990s or something. I tested Affinity Designer on a project that I started in Adobe CS4, continued in Adobe CC; working on it in Affinity Designer was seamless.

Pros

I have worked on one project to test it during the trial period before purchasing. The vector editing features are very similar to Adobe Illustrator, but it's a one-time-purchase for this version and updates rather than a subscription model. I'm happy that I can use it on multiple computers for my own use, as I have both a home and a studio workstation. Because my workflow includes tracing over photos, I appreciate having a suite (Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher) where it's easy to go back and forth with photo editing. I also do my own product photos and print materials so this suite is just what I needed.

Cons

I have not tried to transfer files back and forth between workstations using Affinity and Adobe.

Affinity Designer

Gotta Get Them All

Reviewed 3 years ago

I should start by saying that I didn't think I'd need Affinity Designer when I bought it. The only reason I bought it (and its product sibling, Affinity Photo) was because the product I actually wanted (Affinity Publisher) has a component called "Studio Link" that allows owners of Designer and Photo to switch "personas," which is a fancy word for summoning the tool set for Designer or Photo, whenever...

Pros

The main reason I bought the program was because it integrates with Affinity Publisher, another tool from the same company that I needed for book design. This is probably more of a pro in Publisher's camp, but Designer's compatibility with Affinity's entire suite of products made it attractive. But it didn't take long for me to realize that I needed a program to design vector graphics, and Affinity...

Cons

If I were a dedicated graphic design artist, I might have an opinion here. But as a writer and sometimes game designer, my graphic needs are governed by situation, and so far my situation has not revealed any frustrations that I wouldn't extend to all Affinity products. So, the only actual negative I have right now is trivial. I'd need to use the software consistently to become excellent, and I don't...
