This is great freeware. I've used Sony Vegas Pro and Adobe Premiere and this freeware is great when you're on a budget.
I do not have any cons to speak on because it did exactly what I needed to do.

I did have one problem which was not the fault of the software. I changed computers and went from 16GB RAM to 8GB RAM at which point the software doesn't work. So if you do have less than 16GB RAM don't bother trying this software as it will only lead to frustration.
This is the most complete and professional editing software I have used. It is far beyond HitFilm that I had been using at home for a while. In addition I had previously used Sony Vegas which I quite liked and had used Adobe Premiere Pro.
There is a learning curve with using this, as with any editing software. I found the learning curve less than for Adobe Premiere Pro. One thing to note is that you will soon or eventually want to add the elements that are paid, to do special effects. I don't begrudge this at all because the free version gives so much value.

I have been using Sony Vegas because it fits my needs. The latest version was bugging and kept crashing. I'm a creature of habit and the thought of switching into a new software irked me. I had no choice and boy did I score big time. Firstly I won't ever have to pay the 70 dollar yearly upgrade (DaVinci is free). Secondly it is a much more powerful platform than what I was previously using. I am completely happy with this software sweet and I may even consider purchasing the "Pro" version as well.
Davinci Resolve is not your typical video editing software. For one, its entirely free, and its loaded with features that rival of Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere. If you are looking to edit a video without cutting corners this is it. If you are looking for software that will do more than your typical iMovie type of software, Davinci Resolve gives you the tools and ability to edit professional, high-quality videos. Including 4k. Need to make TikTok edits, you can! Need to submit footage for professional use, you can? All in all this softtware sweet enables you to be legitimate without spending a dime.
Its a bit different in terms of navigation that other software titles. It takes some getting used to (timeline) but because there are 100's of applicable youtube tutorials out there, just about every question you may have is available on youtube to learn step by step what to do. You can't go wrong because of the public contribution.

I was thrilled to find DaVinci Resolve as it helped us cut cost without sacrificing quality! Adobe keeps marking prices up and not making their products better. DaVinci gives you everything you need without robbing the bank, which is important for artists!
DaVinci Resolve is a free video editing software, and normally that means very limited features and not something a pro would want to use, but not this time! DaVinci offers pretty much every feature you could need: audio tools, color correction, etc, and all for free! Pretty easy to use if you've already used Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, too.
It just takes a little time to get used to the layout, but everything else is great!

I'm an enthusiast guy that also works at marketing and from time to time involved in projects that need to use design and video tools to speed up some things. DaVinci Resolve is by far the best tool I've found (free) to work one step ahead from others to do more complex and professional stuff and not just cut and trim video sections. I've learn to do color corrections, edit and equalize audio, import effects (video and audio) and a lot more. You need to give it a try and invest time to learn new ways to work different from other software.
It's really free for almost all features. Works really well also with old Macbook pro computers.
A lot of frequently updates. Some features (not so professional ones) cost money. Need a lot of time to understand to use certain features if you are familiar with simpler free editors.

Great experience and huge features integrated better than Adobe.
User interface is familiar but superior to what I have used before. Integrates with our Black Magic Atem Mini Pro.
There was a slight learning curve coming from Premier. This is to be expected though and well worth it.

My small bit of video editing work for a local group is a breeze and takes me much less time than in Premiere Pro.
DaVinci Resolve is really very easy to get started with, I have used Premiere Pro for quite a while and found DaVinci Resolve easier to do the things I needed to. I also really like the simple exports straight to video services like Vimeo and YouTube.
I have experienced some difficulties understanding and using the export tool, great if you want to just go with whatever it suggests but more tricky if you want to customise.

I've been using the software for several years, and I'm impressed by the support and development of the software package. After using Premiere Pro for a decade, I'm enjoying editing editing.
Incredible speed and coloring. If you're a linear editing veteran, you'll adjust to the software fairly quickly. Also, being able to work through cutting, coloring, graphics, and sound design is within the program.
Old habits are hard to break. As I said, you'll adjust quickly to the software, but there are some functions (such as Fusion) that are difficult to pick up if you've been using Adobe After Effects for many years.

Not bad but can be better
Da Vinci resolve he’s one of my best video editing software. I love it features that combines the equivalent of both adobe premiere Pro and adobe after effects in one and only software.
I dislike the wait of the software. I almost every time notice lags while editing in 4K video on my Windows PC. It requires so much cpu and gpu ressources to run properly.

As you know it is very useful to color grading and also you can convert your premiere pro project into a fcpx project format for free. I also use it for many times and it's worked.
It is very helpful to get great color into your videos. Their color grading feature is very good and impactful. I am using, it's free version & that's also a very good option to give color in your videos.
It's paid version is so expensive. Free version of DAVinci Resolve has not more feature to use it. I think, It is bad think of this software.

I enjoyed using DaVinci Resolve, although at this point I have decided to move back to Final Cut Pro as I am more familiar with the software and interface. DaVinci resolved has allowed me to create high quality videos for free which was a necessity as my budget did not allow for the purchase of Final Cut Pro for some time. I use the software to make YouTube videos, Instagram reels and other forms of social media video content as well as filming eCourses.
The best thing about DaVinci Resolve is that it is a free software. It is extremely rare to find such a powerful professional grade software available for free. It is worth noting that not all features are available in the free version, although essentially every necessity is available. This is not iMove or Windows Movie Maker. This is actual world class editing software available for you to download today. There is a significant learning curve though, so if you are already used to another software, the time investment to learn a new software may not be worth your while. i.e, if you will easily use up over $299 of your time to learn this software in a basic way, so if you're already a master at Final Cut Pro, it would make more sense to pay the $299 to purchase it.
In general, there are not many cons to this software. It has everything I could ever think of needing to make high quality video edits and much more than I'd ever use. The learning curve is probably the most difficult thing about using this software. It isn't as user friendly as Final Cut Pro, for example, but if one takes the time to do the necessary tutorials or takes a course, they will overcome that difficulty in due time.

The layout is great, with like different pages for different functions, it is made easy to use, like render and stuff compared to Final Cut Pro where stuff is in the menu and need to search for it.
I don’t know if it is an issue that only me or a small group of users face, but after rendering, the words like title for people look grainy and unprofessional.

It is a great software for free and it matches the best. Adobe Premiere Pro. It has many great quality features that you would want in a video editing software.I really like all of the functions of this software.
The only major issue is that it can be quite hard to read and understand. I also think that it is missing some small but major features like a skip 5 seconds. It can also be hard to find certain things.

Though it can take some work to get used to the layout of this editor, which is crammed full of features, and is structured quite differently to other video editing software I've used, the payoff is worth it. It feels good to be running an affordable program outside of the Adobe ecosystem, which is available across the major platforms.
There are so many things to like about DaVinci Resolve. The free version is extremely well featured. It's available on Windows, Mac and Linux. It's got advanced audio editing and colour grading features built right into the program. It receives regular software updates. And above all its the kid on the block who seems to be innovating faster than anyone else at the moment.
It can definitely be buggy. It's not necessarily any worse than Adobe Premiere Pro though, which also runs into inexplicable crashes and errors from time to time. It also requires a pretty beefy PC to run smoothly.

Resolve is free, with very few limitations. Sink that in: you can get a very-modern, timely-updated, fully featured video workstation for free. Pros don't often use free software, mostly because it lacks support: BMD is definitely the counter to these with Resolve. The paid-version allows for greater resolutions and more customization.
We've come a long way since the early Resolve versions. So many tools added release after release (and they also come often), it is now a full fledged one-stop video solution. Node canvas is very easy to work with. Clip management is intuitive and fast. BMD's vision is clear: they create the best editor they can to work with their own hardware, but unlike others they make it as easy to work with BMD-camera captured footage than it is with other formats. All this for a very, very cheap price and the option to actually own the software rather than renting (wink wink Adobe?)
Resolve is a professional video workstation, and like every software of this caliber the learning curve can be a bit steep for newcomers; it takes time and practice to really master it. You want pro results? You better get studying!

Being able to collaborate on a project with my team on the cloud its one of the greatest ways to save time and improve efficiency.
Great color grading features, cloud collaboration, automatic saves, low price and no subscriptions.
Syncing videos and audio is a headache. Also relinking clips and other files after moving them in your computer is kind of annoying. Lastly it requires a great transition if you are a long-term Adobe Premiere Pro user.

I started using this editor to create a video for one subject at university (the lecturer recommended it). So far, I'm pleasantly surprised at what you can do in this editor. I think he can easily rank among professional video editors such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, etc.
For me as an amateur, it was not at all difficult to learn to orient in the editor within a few hours. It offers many features that you will come across by gradually improving your skills in editing and trying new things.
Some users may be deterred by the many features that DaVinci Resolve offers. For less technically proficient users, I would recommend starting with a simpler editor first. The editor is not so well optimized. My gaming laptop is powerful enough to handle difficult tasks but had problems rendering 3D text in the video.

Overall I really like DaVinci Resolve. I'm blown away by the free version, I can't imagine the paid version honestly, it must be amazing!
I really like DaVinci Resolve! Even the free version is a very advanced video editing software. It's very professional, and it's great for the more advanced editor. In my opinion the free version of DaVinci Resolve is just as great as the paid version of Final Cut Pro.
There is a steep learning curve with DaVinci Resolve. There should be more tutorials made available, so a complete beginner should be able to learn it easier.

Very fast and uses GPU & CPU at the same time, which reduces tons of hours of video editing. The free version is very good, and the Pro version costs $300, and it includes upgrades for life (pe: I bought version 16, and I'm able to update it to version 18).
Lack of a support team, but it makes sense because of the very low price, and it can be solved thanks to YouTube, BlackMagic's tutorials, and many courses.

I have been unhappy with Final Cut Pro and (especially) Premiere, so I was shocked when I downloaded DaVinci Resolve and it was so powerful! And the Fairlight audio editor is light years beyond anything else in the industry, offering full multitrack mixing, output busses, and more. I cannot recommend this software enough.
Firstly, the free version of DaVinci Resolve is so good, I would wager most amateur video editors would never need to upgrade to the Studio version. It's shocking that BlackMagic gives away an editor this good for free, and I would be surprised if DaVinci Resolve does not replace Adobe Premiere in the next 5-10 years.
DaVinci Resolve has some quirks that take getting used to, especially when it comes to the animation workflow. This is a confusing interface where you hook up nodes in a nebulous flowchart that just does not make sense to a newcomer.

As an industry-leading colour grading software, DaVinci Resolve is at the top of the list for our team to colour grade all our work once the EDLs have been imported from Premiere Pro. It is much easier to work with nodes when it comes to colour as opposed to Adobe's layer-based workflow.
For multi-camera work and video editing in general, Premiere Pro is still our choice. Audio work is also not the best in DaVinci Resolve. Our organisation stuck with Adobe Creative Suite due to the integration it has with Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects. While there is a roundabout to working with footage, it is still something that is being done by the industry as most editors have a preferred platform that they can be most effective with and we do not expect one software to be perfect in both audio, video, graphics and illustration. It's simply not possible.

Overall I really like this editing software because it is easy to use it and it gives you a very high quality end-product. Also, the workflow is quite fast and smooth.
I strongly believe that DaVinci Resolve is the best partially-free editing software out there for the following reasons: 1) It has many free features. 2) There is no watermark on the export of the video. 3) Nice environment to work and and edit your videos. 4) Cool transitions. 5) Supports many formats of materials. 6) It has a one-time payment to buy the full program and is quite cheap. 7) Easy to learn it and many more.
The only think that I liked the least about this program is that when you hover over some Pro features with your mouse, a window will pop-up that says that this is the limit of free version and you have to buy the full version so that you can access this feature.

Overall it's a great software for video editing but it lacks the compatibility of premiere in Adobe CC and it's not free as Davinci Resolve
VEGAS Pro was my first professional video editor and it was an amazing step up from other amateur softwares. It changed a lot in the last years (for the better), and the new interface design is great.
VEGAS Pro was my first professional video editor before I switch to Premiere. The reason I changed was when VEGAS was still under SONY development and the interface was old and clunky. Premiere had much to offer at the time.

Not great, and it does not work on my newer devices which all use .mov containers. DaVinci Resolve free version works much better which is a big surprise.
I do like fx features and the workflow, but none of my new camera gear will work in it anymore.
Why does Magix think .mov files are obsolete and always related to Quicktime which they are doing away with? It is my understanding that .mov is just a container, and codec can vary in containers. For instance, my new Atomos Ninja V recorder uses .mov containers with DNxHR codex. Does not work in Vegas but it works without any problems in the free version of DaVinci Resolve. Same thing with 2 of my...

VEGAS continues to impress as a low-cost option to step into a NLE software suite. However, with free options like Davinci Resolve now on the market, and applications like Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere also being on the market, VEGAS is really relegated to simple tasks for the independent content creator.
VEGAS is one of the least expensive and simplest ways to get into editing software beyond the basic software that comes with your computer or that you can find for free online. We really like that it is based on a one-time purchase, and is not a subscription software that we have to keep renewing.
We felt very limited in the formats that were supported to edit in, as well as the options for exporting. It feels like the software wants to make decisions easier for you, but hides the crucial minutia of the export window which is frustrating for our editing staff.
