The part I like least about Ant Media Server is that certain updates or configuration changes can sometimes feel a bit sensitive, requiring careful review of documentation to avoid issues. While the platform is feature-rich, some areas—especially advanced configurations—could benefit from more streamlined guides or built-in safeguards.

What I liked most is its ultra-low latency WebRTC streaming capabilities. When building applications that require real-time video intelligence and seamless integration with large language models, low latency is critical.

It served as an incredibly reliable backbone for managing WebRTC streams, allowing for fluid, asynchronous integration with AI models like Gemini.

No native support for chunked recording — we needed 2-minute MP4 segments per stream for post-event editing, but Ant Media Server saves each stream as a single continuous file.

Everything worked smoothly out of the box — setup was fast, streams were stable throughout the event, and the built-in recording saved all sessions directly to disk without any extra configuration.

It requires a beefy server with lots of CPU Cores and RAM,  and one nice thing it does it take advantage of any GPU's your server may have for transcoding.
