The community, blog, forums, and discussion boards work as expected and the administration team seems to be happier than before.

The group feature has not been working well although a many improvements have been made in the past year. As groups are an important part of my adoption strategy in community building, I have been struggling to make the most of what we could expect from such a feature.

The API is pretty robust, but we do find some actions that we would like to perform automatically to not be possible via the API.

Last but not least, Vanilla isn't as flexible as we initially thought it would be.

We therefore are very demanding customers and always try to push Vanilla's platform to it's maximum!

It's cumbersome at best, you have to jump to different areas of the interface to edit a single page. Despite it being based on the Bootstrap system, it is a terrible bastardization that does not allow even a full-width image to be displayed in a hero, you can't go wider than 1200px, so it looks awful on most desktops.

This, I am told, is a known issue going back MONTHS.

I'd much rather pay for a platform that gets our job done without working longer hours due to Higher Logic's issues on the backend (that's effected all companies, apparently).

This was especially true with the peer-to-peer support tools that allowed us to make our research deadlines as we utilized technology to keep our team productive and accountable.

Additionally, the lack of updates and support from their customer support team has ruined the experience.

The communities make it easy for members across the globe to communicate daily, sharing the latest information, tips and tricks.

The only thing I liked is how ease it was to use pre-built templates.

There's lots of automation that makes contacting members and keeping everyone up to date on things very easy.
