SoftOrbits Auto Video Redaction Software overview
What is SoftOrbits Auto Video Redaction Software?
A request for footage lands on your desk, and the recording shows a dozen people who never agreed to appear anywhere. Someone has to blur faces in video before the file goes out. In a general editor that means drawing a mask and moving it by hand, shot after shot. AI Video Redaction Software - Blur Faces in Video takes over that part. It detects heads on its own, works through a batch, and does the whole job on a Windows PC with no upload.
📌 Where it helps
A body cam file for a public records request. The officer walks through a crowd, and people turn, bend down and pass close to the lens. The head detector covers frontal faces, profiles and the backs of heads, including people in helmets, hoods and hats, so the clerk does not chase each person through the scene.
A subject access request to a retailer. Someone asks for the store camera recording they appear in. Staff need to blur all faces in the footage of other shoppers, and to do it without handing the material to an outside service. Since processing is local, the files never leave the company network.
An interview with a protected source. A reporter wants the voice kept but a spoken street name removed. Audio intervals are marked and replaced with silence or a tone.
A dashcam clip for an insurer. Pedestrians at a crossing are covered automatically. Plates of uninvolved cars can be searched for too, although plate detection misses some, so the driver checks the preview and draws an area over anything still readable.
🔰 How to start
1. Install the program and open it. Add recordings with drag and drop or the Add Files button.
2. On the panel, tick Heads. Add Full body when clothing or build could identify someone.
3. Select the cover: Smooth blur, Pixelation or Black square.
4. Look at the player. Detections are outlined in blue and already covered, so you can judge the settings before any rendering.
5. If something is wrong, move Face confidence or change how many frames are skipped between detections.
6. Tick Custom and draw a rectangle or a free-form shape over a sign, a screen or a tattoo.
7. Set the destination folder and press Start. Each output keeps the name of its source.
✅ Who it is for
- Records clerks and police units that redact dashcam footage and interview recordings for release.
- Privacy officers, legal teams and HR staff who answer DSAR requests that include camera material.
- Security managers who share incident clips with insurers or other third parties.
- Reporters, researchers and video creators who must blur people's faces in a clip before it goes online.
- Individuals who want simple face blur software and have no use for an enterprise platform.
❓ FAQ
Which video formats and codecs are supported? The program reads MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WMV, FLV, MPEG, M2V, M2TS, TS, WebM and 3GP. Supported video codecs include H.264, H.265, MPEG2, MPEG4, VP9, AV1 and DivX/XviD, with AAC, MP3, AC3, WAV and Opus sound.
What hide styles are available and which one to pick? Smooth blur is a Gaussian effect that looks natural and fits most releases. Pixelation gives a mosaic. Black square is a solid fill that leaves nothing to recover, which is the careful choice for minors or identity documents.
Can the audio track be redacted as well? Yes. Add an interval and choose Mute or Beep. The edited sound is mixed into the output automatically, so the video blur tool returns one finished file.
How does batch mode work? Queue as many files as you need to blur faces in each video. The same settings apply to all of them and every CPU core is used. No count limit is built in.
ℹ️ Trial and licensing: the trial version adds no watermark and does not limit the number of files, but exported files are shortened. Paid options are lifetime, one-year, monthly and business licenses. This video redaction program supports your disclosure work and does not replace your own review or confirm compliance with a specific law.
