Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.

Altair Health overview
What is Altair Health?
Altair is an AI powered medical billing software platform designed to optimize revenue cycle management for healthcare practices by countering payer denial tactics across eligibility verification, prior authorization, claims submission, denial management and appeals processing. The platform addresses the asymmetry between payer organizations that deploy sophisticated AI systems to deny claims and healthcare providers that lack equivalent technological capabilities to contest denials. Altair serves medical practices across multiple clinical specialties that bill insurance payers and seek to maximize reimbursement while reducing the administrative burden associated with claim denials and appeals.
The platform operates through a six stage workflow that integrates with existing practice management systems. Altair connects directly to electronic health record systems and clearinghouses without requiring replacement of existing infrastructure. Compatibility extends to major EMR platforms such as Epic, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Tebra, DrChrono and AdvancedMD as well as clearinghouses including Availity, Change Healthcare, Office Ally, Waystar and Kareo. The eligibility verification module confirms patient coverage, prior authorization requirements and pre determination status before scheduled visits based on each payer specific protocol. The claims scrubbing functionality reviews every claim against payer specific policies before submission, checking for rejection triggers such as expired authorizations, insufficient documentation, coding mismatches and modifier requirements. When denials occur the system automatically analyzes reason codes, drafts responses informed by payer behavior patterns and files appeals immediately to prevent claims from aging in work queues. A unified financial dashboard displays real time metrics including collection rates, clean claim rates, days in accounts receivable and denial rates across all patients, providers and payers. A machine learning component continuously analyzes billing patterns, records successful resolution strategies and payer specific requirements to guide future claim submissions and appeal management.
Altair maintains current policy information for over three thousand four hundred insurance payers including major carriers such as Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Medicare, Kaiser Permanente, Medicaid, Centene, Molina, Tricare, WellCare, Oscar, Elevance and Highmark. The platform tracks policy changes across this payer network to maintain compliance with evolving requirements. The software is HIPAA compliant and provides access to trust center documentation for security verification. Altair combines AI driven automation with support from medical billing and coding professionals who contribute expertise to reinforce the automated processes.
