Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

AutoDoc overview
What is AutoDoc?
AutoDoc Guide is a local first application for process documentation and standard operating procedure creation in Windows environments. The software captures step by step workflows with UI-aware screen recording technology while preserving complete data sovereignty by keeping screenshots and documentation files on the local machine. This design supports organizations operating under strict compliance frameworks such as GDPR and HIPAA as well as teams in air gapped or high security settings. The application requires no user account creation or internet connection and enables capture, editing, and export of professional documentation entirely offline.
The platform presents an always on top recording widget that remains visible while workflows run in enterprise resource planning systems, integrated development environments, browsers, or other Windows applications. The software leverages Windows UI Automation APIs to extract control names and context from interface elements and generates narration such as Click Submit on Order entry. Keyboard shortcuts and typed text are converted into readable step instructions that align with timestamped screenshots. A timeline editor supports drag and drop reordering of steps, inline narration edits, deletion of unwanted captures, and insertion of information cards or manual text steps to enrich context. Users on the free tier can produce unlimited local guides with full capture and editing capabilities and export watermarked PDF files. The Pro tier unlocks image PII masking tools for blurring or redacting sensitive data, watermark free PDF export, editable Word files, standalone Markdown bundles with embedded images, and packaged HTML manuals. Customizable branding presets allow definition of templates with header and footer guides, annotation color configurations, and step badge styling with live previews. Bulk export operations enable selection of multiple guides for batch processing and sharing packs package specific guides and presets. Collaborative team libraries synchronize documentation across departments by designating shared folders or mounted cloud drives as library locations.
AutoDoc Guide functions as a standalone Windows application without dependencies on external services or proprietary synchronization protocols. Collaborative team libraries rely on file system access to network shares or user managed cloud storage mounts with existing Windows file permissions. Licensing is managed via a single license key entered in the application settings and permits one purchaser to distribute access across the licensed seat count. The application is code signed with extended validation Authenticode certification and distributed through a secure payment processor. All documentation data remains under the user’s control and is supported by portable full data backup packages for archival and migration without requiring an active subscription or vendor login.
