Breakdown overview
What is Breakdown?
Breakdown is a native Mac menu-bar network troubleshooting application that continuously distinguishes three fault domains: Wi-Fi/LAN, the ISP or Internet path, and the application or service in use. Automatic app and service discovery, issue history, timelines, and Evidence Reports retain diagnostic evidence after intermittent problems recover.
The free version is free for standard use and includes seven-day issue history, evidence exports, and basic AI-powered diagnosis. Breakdown Pro adds extended history, Full Details, Diagnostics and Explorer, network observability graphs, Internet-path and ASN topology, advanced controls, pinned endpoints, and higher AI limits. A seven-day Pro trial is available.
Breakdown runs locally on macOS. It monitors network metadata and health signals rather than call audio or video, messages, or document contents. Compatible local AI agents can access connectivity context through Breakdown’s local MCP interface. The product is suited to remote workers, developers, IT support teams, and small businesses that need clear evidence before changing Wi-Fi equipment, contacting an ISP, or escalating to an app vendor.
