A new client who reaches voicemail rings the next firm. EzyBiz LEX is built for the Australian sole practitioner and small firm whose lawyers answer their own phones and are often in court, with a client or on the road.

Each lawyer gets an Australian business number in an app on the iPhone or Android they already carry, or ports the number they have at no charge. Clients ring one number; the lawyer keeps their personal mobile private.

On the same line sits QRYSTEL, an automated answering service. It answers in the firm's name whenever the lawyer cannot, takes a legal intake, and either transfers a qualified new enquiry to whoever is on intake, with a one-line briefing, or books a call back at a time the caller chooses. Existing clients who ring their own lawyer are welcomed by name.

The lawyer decides how calls are handled with one tap: Available rings them directly with the client's matter and last note on screen; Screen has QRYSTEL answer first and put genuine callers through; Unavailable has it take everything. Change the mode between a hearing and a meeting.

Every call and text, including the ones QRYSTEL took, is written up as a file note and filed to the matter in Smokeball (listed on the Smokeball Marketplace) or to SharePoint. New enquiries become leads, call backs become tasks, and bookings land in the diary. Clio filing is in development. LEAP and Actionstep are not integrated.

QRYSTEL tells every caller the call is transcribed, says it is automated when asked, never gives legal advice, does not run conflict checks and never changes payment details. No call audio is kept; summaries and messages are stored in Australian data centres.
