FreshLIMS overview
What is FreshLIMS?
FreshLIMS is a cloud LIMS for independent UK diagnostic laboratories, with a connected clinic app (FreshLIMS Connect) that shares the same patient and sample record. It is built around ISO 15189-aligned workflows and runs in the browser, with hosting, backups, security patching and upgrades included.
Lab Platform functions
- Sample lifecycle: order intake, accessioning, aliquots, batches, retests and tube storage locations
- Disciplines: clinical chemistry, microbiology with AST, molecular/PCR, serology, genetics and sequencing
- QC: live Westgard rules on Levey-Jennings charts, QC lots, violations and one-click investigations, plus patient-result look-back after a failed QC run
- Results: reference ranges, panic-value and delta alerts, reflex and cascade rules, review and e-signature with optional second-person sign-off, and a critical-result phone-call gate before release
- Reporting: versioned PDF reports, amended reports with recorded reasons, and turnaround-time monitoring per test with overdue orders listed
- Quality records: calibration, maintenance and EQA records with automatic result holds, reagent and calibrator lot register with lot-to-lot acceptance, and SOP document control
- Send-outs to reference labs and import of antibiotic breakpoint tables
FreshLIMS Connect (clinics)
Online booking, consultation notes, card payments, a patient portal, test ordering straight into the lab's queue and signed results returned as soon as they are released.

Analyser and HL7 connections, with an outbound message log.
Security and data
UK-hosted (London-region PostgreSQL), TLS end-to-end with HSTS, encryption at rest, authenticator-app MFA that admins can require for every user, role-based access, session timeouts, an append-only audit trail and daily backups with an independent off-site copy. A supplier validation pack is included for your quality file. Full data export at any time, with no lock-in.

Lab Platform plans from £1,250/month and FreshLIMS Connect clinic plans from £695/month, including up to 3 clinicians. Pricing is tailored to your test volume, analysers and accreditation scope, with a one-off onboarding fee quoted upfront.
