Lambda overview

What is Lambda?

Lambda is a cloud computing platform designed for artificial intelligence workloads that require GPU acceleration. It provides infrastructure optimized for deep learning, large language model development, and agentic AI applications. Headquartered in San Francisco, California, the platform serves research laboratories, financial services teams, and groups in autonomous systems seeking scalable compute resources.

The platform offers bare metal GPU instances that remove virtualization overhead to deliver direct hardware access to NVIDIA GPU architectures including H one hundred series, B two hundred series, GB three hundred NVL seventy two, and Blackwell Ultra systems. Clusters scale from single GPU nodes to multi node installations with thousands of GPUs connected via Quantum X InfiniBand networking with co packaged optics. Dedicated BlueField data processing units operate in Zero Trust Mode to isolate network and security functions from host operating systems. Workspace based access controls support resource specific permissions and project grouping for instances, storage, and users. An application programming interface enables automated provisioning and orchestration of infrastructure lifecycles.

The architecture supports low latency access for petabyte scale datasets used in large context AI workloads. Performance is documented through MLPerf Training and Inference benchmarks. Storage infrastructure is designed to handle massive repositories with throughput tuned for concurrent data operations. Pricing is transparent with charges by the minute and no fees for data egress.

Support for standard frameworks and libraries includes PyTorch, TensorFlow, and distributed training toolchains. The platform aligns with NVIDIA Vera Rubin deployments, Vera central processing units, and BlueField four STX reference architectures for AI factory implementations. Lambda collaborates with leading research universities and institutes to contribute to publications on model optimization, synthetic data generation, and training efficiency. Secure shell access and compatibility with MLOps workflows and experiment tracking systems facilitate integration into existing development pipelines.
