OpenBait overview

What is OpenBait?

OpenBait is a cloud-based, self-serve brand abuse response workspace targeting mid-market companies with 300 to 2,000 employees across B2B SaaS, e-commerce, cryptocurrency, media, and Japanese listed companies. It replaces ad-hoc phishing response workflows with a structured platform covering customer-facing phishing reporting, proactive domain threat detection, social media impersonation monitoring, and coordinated takedown filing, all within per-organization case workspaces that maintain a full audit trail of every action taken.

Detection coverage spans multiple threat surfaces. Lookalike and typosquat domain discovery runs continuously via Certificate Transparency log monitoring, Newly Registered Domain feeds, and dnstwist-style enumeration, surfacing threats before any victim arrives. A canary token embedded on the legitimate site fires when attackers clone it, using an inline obfuscated probe script, runtime domain assertion, and CSP nonce injection for tamper resistance. Social media brand impersonation scanning covers YouTube, X, TikTok, and Instagram. A user-side JavaScript SDK displays an in-page warning on the legitimate site when a visitor arrives via a known phishing referrer, without cross-site user tracking.

Response tooling includes a customer-facing phishing report page (openbait.com/report/your-brand) that replaces an unmanaged phishing@ inbox and returns an answer to reporters in seconds. Automated abuse-report generation covers registrar filings with templates, auto-fill, and reporter-identity continuity, alongside browser blocklist submissions to Google Safe Browsing and VirusTotal. Deployment is fully cloud-based with self-serve signup and no sales call required. A free tier supports piloting the detection pipeline and canary tokens at no cost. Paid plans run from $79 to $999+ per month. Japanese UI, JPY invoice billing, and bank transfer support address Japanese procurement requirements on Business and higher plans.
