Overall a positive experience with the IDE. Definitely a big step up from Eclipse.
I recently started development in Laravel after a few years of development in Java, so the transition from intellij Idea to phpstorm was fairly smooth. The interface is very similar to Intellij with great plugin support. The Git plugin in particular is very helpful and removes the need for any other git UI client, giving me an all in one solution for development.
I have noticed at times a significant spike in memory usage, especially when I have multiple windows open. Other than that I have not faced any signifcant issues using the IDE.

Overall, it was a positive experience, but I ultimately stopped renewing my license because VSCode works better as it allows me to stay within a single IDE for whatever my current development needs may be. If you're for sure only going to be doing PHP and PHP-adjacent languages, I doubt there's a better IDE than PhpStorm.
It made working with PHP and WordPress about as easy as it can be with any IDE. It's nice that PhpStorm is solely for PHP which allows it to be leaner and more focused, versus, say, Eclipse or other jack-of-all-trades IDEs
I don't work solely on PHP and while it's easy enough to do JavaScript and other PHP-adjacent languages in PhpStorm, for Rails work, I have to use VSCode.

This indeed is a best IDE for PHP as name suggests.
When it comes to working with PHP, PhpStrom is one of the best IDEs I've ever used. It just works really well when it comes to highlighting syntax. This software stores errors in a very accurate way and alerts you right away. One of the best things about this IDE is that we can run PHP files right in the IDE and get updates right away while we code. I found that this software works with Laravel and catching errors and helping to debug.
The system requirements for using this program are high, and only the most powerful computers will be up to the task. It's pricey in comparison to other IDEs, but it was well worth the investment in my opinion.

I cannot think of a better IDE. It is unmatched.
It has a rich integrated feature set and has more than just PHP.
Its startup time and indexing is quite slow at first.

Php programming language IDE for every day use , good plugin support.
I like that it works super well as IDE for php programming language. Awesome plugin support, quick version updates for PHP updates, works well with Composer.
All good, nothing bad to say as overall - JetBrains products work really well and hard to say anything bad.

Simply the best PHP IDE I've ever tried. Very customizable and extendable
Semplicity; New major releases with new features 3/4 times at year with EAP (Early Access Program) builds to try out them before the stable release; A lot of plugins from the community marketplace to extend features and tweak the IDE UI
A bit larger in terms of size (around 1,25 GB) and consumes a high amount of RAM (around 2 GB)

It helps us enhance our workflow by having one IDE from our favorite JetBrains IDE family, as well as easy tools such as debuggers, git, compiler, etc. Overall, it has saved us thousands in productivity.
It is great for productivity with its multiple tab support, as well as built in integration with Git repositories such as BitBucket and Github. It also helps us work with many well known PHP frameworks, which otherwise are not available on other IDEs.
I have very few complaints about this software. I would say maybe some more optimization on the software side, as it does take a lot of computing power on the computer and makes my machine a bit slower.

One of the most complete IDE, allow developers to switch between various projects easly.
In some cases it is a bit slow if you have multiple projects open at the same time. The benchmark is done on a machine with 12 cores and 256GB of ram so it's not a hardware issue.

This is my go-to Development environment for anything PHP and laravel related. It's worth every penny and a Joy to develop with.
What would I do without PHPStorm? Nothing :). This is probably the best IDE I have used. Ease of use Easy to customize Once you are in the IDE you can do everything from inside it (Database, Terminal, name it)
PhpStorm makes use of a lot of computer resources which is understandable with the functionalities that come with it.

l never really did hate PHP storm, when I first started writing server side code, I started with PHP and PHP storm is what allowed me to see how beneficial an IDE that comes with adequate plugins and add-ons that make your life easier enables you to work much more smarter.
Built-in developer tools Easy package imports Intellisence Folder structure navigation Free license to university or high school students Full-fledged IDE
The IDE only comes with a short trial, no community edition and the license is rather expensive

It has been my pleasure to be working with this one of a kind IDE. You could spend you lifetime learning and using all its magnificent and glorious set of tools and extended features. This is my main go to IDE for all the coding that I do one a daily basis and have no intentions of ever trading.
PhpStorm is a super smart PHP IDE and one of the best to my knowledge on the market. It has some of the most used features you love including but not limited to code completion to help speed up the work flow, parameter hints to help remind you of the order of parameters, Inspection, keyword completion, a fully fledged HTTP client built into the IDE, code refactor in the case you forgot to indent etc.,...
With so many awesome features and tools available in this IDE, I have no dislikes at this moment.

I'm quite satisfied with php storm UI/UX and the features it provide. Previously I used ATOM to code, after a month of free trial, it feels like the IDE I need. Developing application with php frameworks seems fun in this ide.
Interactive UI/UX, helps to stay productive and focused in coding. Come in great help while developing application in framework like laravel.
Pricing is the only thing I would be complaining about, could be less expensive, but it's worth it.

I highly recommend PhpStorm to any PHP developer looking for a powerful and reliable IDE.
PhpStorm is a comprehensive and feature-rich integrated development environment (IDE) specifically designed for PHP development. It offers a wide range of helpful features to make coding easier and more efficient, including code completion, refactoring, and debugging tools. The interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, making it a great tool for both experienced developers and those new to PHP. Additionally, PhpStorm integrates seamlessly with version control systems like Git, which makes it easy to collaborate with other developers on projects.
the software can be a bit expensive, especially for individual developers or small businesses.

When I was studying at the university, the language that I like the most was php. Those days I did coding with php using multiple different IDEs and finally ended up using phpStrom. The only IDE that I was satisfied with coding PHP was this.
This has set of features like smart debugger, version controlling support, highlight the syntax issues and code smells, integration with other tools and plugins, availability of code templates. I love the easy navigation shortcuts.
IDE uses resources of the machine since the php code base is somewhat large. So I felt some slowness those days.

Best IDE ever to use with PHP language. Lots of inspections on your code and easy to use.
Use this IDE every day to develop my project in PHP language. It is very robust and contains every feature which is on my mind. Easy to use. Nice UX/UI which is modern. Always up-to date with new PHP versions. Love option to add more plugins. Tons of inspections.
It is a bit slow. Launch time take some time. Also it is a bit resource expensive, it always consume lot of RAM memory on my computer during development process.

Tried this IDE when it was like 0.8 or 0.9 version and absolutely loved it. Use it everyday for develompent. It has all the functions I need, works with database, vcs, ftp, testing tools and allows to make http requests right from IDE. Currently I don't need any other tool for my work.
Lots of useful and handy features, regular updates, stability, plugins and built-in functonality.
Java-based, so can be slow in some situations

I have been using it for almost 2 years now and it is the finest IDE for PHP projects. Highly Recommended.
It gives an overall package needed for PHP development. We can customize themes according to our preference, install plugins needed to make coding simplified and fun. Integration with GitHub helps a lot and we can manage our code very easily. Multiple developers can work on a single license. Compare with clipboard and check local history of code are life saving features.
It is high priced! If the license expires, it only gives you 30 minutes of usage time. It takes almost half of the memory, you will need a good configuration system to run big projects.

The sort of development work that I do, I couldn't live without PHPStorm. It's worth every cent. My working life would be somewhat miserable without it.
This is in all likelihood the best PHP IDE out there. I have tried many other IDE's and editors but no matter how I personalise and tweak them, they don't come close to the functionality provided by PHPStorm. The plugin system caters for most of your typical use cases and you can even add functionality for other languages or framework support. The tips/hints/suggestions that the IDE provides also helps to guide you to cleaner code. If your day job involves PHP then you need to make this IDE your daily driver.
Being a Java based product it doesn't feel as snappy as what a native macos application feels. There are times where small changes would result in full project indexing which could be annoying at times but it's not train smash. There's not a lot of negative things to say regarding PHPStorm.

Best intellisense i have ever experienced, saved my life when i switched to large existing projects that were largely interconnected and used bunch of libraries.
Intellisense, code completion, formatting and refactoring are implemented as in no other IDE i have used before. Excellent code navigation and quality analysis. Fast and powerful search functionality. Version control - Git is also very nicely integrated, better than you will get in any other IDE. Also supports installation of lots of dedicated plugins. Dark themes also available :)
Its not as lightweight as other IDEs so it takes a bit more time to load and eats quite a bit of my ram memory. Also indexes the files quite often....

I have a few large Symfony and Laravel projects that I have developed and maintained and PhpStorm has been priceless. I rarely pay for software "services" where there is a competent free alternative (my main day-to-day editor is Notepad++) but I have gladly paid for this. Code completion, error testing, ease of jumping around in the code, syntax highlighting, etc. have all been excellent. When...
I cannot imagine a more feature-rich editor. There isn't anything I would want of an editor/ide that this does not provide.
It is strictly for use with multiple-file projects and for operating inside that environment. Most of my programming and development is with single file projects and require searching and editing across many local directories. PhpStorm is not well suited to this (but neither are any other similar products such as Visual Studio).

This software was able to improve productivity. There are warning if you're using deprecated code, and we can avoid using it because of this warning.
Have support for Drupal 8 , Symfony framework, and general modern PHP development like composer, vagrant, docker. Run exactly like Apache NetBeans but with more features.
Consume a lot of memory, but I think it is acceptable considering this is an IDE. Also a little bit complex for first time user.
