Pointcarre overview

What is Pointcarre?

With four decades of expertise behind it, Pointcarre is a professional textile CAD software, and the only one that runs natively on both Mac and PC inside a single application. It spans the full range of textile creation: Jacquard and dobby weaving, digital, rotary and screen printing, jersey and flat knitting, tufting and carpet design, and 3D mapping. Because every module lives in one unified program, a designer can pass from a printed pattern to a woven construction to a tufted carpet and on to a 3D render without ever changing software or exporting files. A single file carries the design, the colors, the yarns, the weave structures and the production data together.

Weaving is handled by two specialized modules. The Jacquard module lets users build and edit any Jacquard fabric from concept through to on-loom production, pairing a rich design environment with a weaving engine that supports up to 16 warps and 16 wefts. It features the exclusive Jacquard Maker, which transforms any picture into a finished, ready-to-weave Jacquard in one move, automatically assigning structures and producing technical sheets with a single click. The Dobby module builds and simulates any dobby cloth, drawing on a 4,000-weave library, automatic weave analysis, float checking, warp and weft formulas, and lifelike rendering with any yarn type, from bouclé and chenille to slub and twisted.

Print and color separation are covered in a dedicated module spanning digital, rotary and screen printing, complete with tonal separations, repeat tools and the exclusive Natural Blend Color, which previews how inks mix on rotary machines ahead of production to cut test rolls, ink waste and cost. The Knit module addresses jersey and flat knitting with expandable stitch libraries, making it ideal for polo shirts, socks, sportswear, hosiery and knitwear, and outputs directly to production formats.

The tufting and carpet module stands as the leading modern replacement for the discontinued APSO software. It produces the most lifelike carpet simulation available anywhere, powered by Aquafil Econyl 3D yarns, and remains the only CAD capable of reproducing CMC's exclusive ColorPoint rendering. It addresses wall-to-wall carpet, carpet tiles and rugs, offering gauge control, single and double needle bars, varied pile heights, cut and loop pile, built-in tiling tools and export to every major tufting machine. The 3D Mapping module places fabrics convincingly onto photographs, draping woven, printed, knitted or tufted designs over garments, furniture and interiors to deliver realistic product visuals long before any sample exists.

Pointcarre holds the distinction of being the first textile CAD anywhere to embed artificial intelligence straight into the design process. Design Maker produces patterns from an inspiration image while preserving the designer's personal style, Repeat Maker converts any motif into a perfect seamless repeat on its own, and AI Upscaling raises the resolution of a small artwork in just a few clicks. Through YarnMaker, Pointcarre now generates three-dimensional yarns driven by AI to achieve the most precise textile simulation on the market. Together these tools strip away the slow, repetitive technical chores that eat into a designer's day, returning that time to creativity.

Color comes at no additional charge: the Pantone Textile Library, the Archroma Color Atlas and ColorCSI are all built in, while rival products bill extra for them. The software links directly to the industry's principal machines, including looms from Stäubli, Bonas, Itema, Picanol and Dornier, tufting equipment from CMC, Tuftco, Vandewiele and Modra, and knitting machines from Stoll and Karl Mayer.

Present in over 120 countries and taught in top textile schools across the globe, Pointcarre is supported by thorough technical training, the Pointcarre Academy e-learning platform, and responsive help by phone, chat, email and remote control.
