Qalami overview
What is Qalami?
Qalami is AI-assisted marking software for handwritten student writing in English and Arabic. It is built for English-medium and bilingual schools, departments and individual teachers.
Core functions:
- Upload a class set as phone photos, scans, PDFs or Word files, or import from Google Drive and OneDrive. Pages are matched to students by QR cover sheets or file names.
- Mark against your own rubric. Rubrics can be uploaded as a file or photo, picked from a template or drafted from the task.
- Get draft marks for each rubric criterion, with a quote from the student's work behind every score and written feedback for the student.
- Review and approve. The teacher accepts or changes each mark, and nothing counts until the paper is approved.
- Mark large batches overnight, with results ready the next morning.
- Report on the class and each student: marks spread, criteria to reteach, progress over time, family reports, PDF exports and gradebook export to Excel, CSV or PowerSchool.
- Run department processes: shared rubrics and comment banks, moderation samples, blind second marking and usage reports.
The full interface, reports and feedback are available in Arabic and English, with a right-to-left layout in Arabic. Scans are deleted 90 days after approval, and a school can export or erase its data at any time.
