SanctionsLookup is a real-time OFAC screening API for money services businesses, payment service providers, marketplaces and online platforms, and fintech companies. Sanctions lists sync every 15 minutes.

SanctionsLookup screens individuals, entities, vessels, aircraft, and crypto wallet addresses against the U.S. Treasury’s SDN and Consolidated Non-SDN lists, including SSI and FSE. Advanced fuzzy matching handles typos, aliases, and transliteration across Cyrillic, Arabic, and Chinese scripts. Requests can include hard identifiers such as passport numbers, national IDs, and registration numbers, as well as attributes such as date of birth, country, and address to reduce false positives. Typical checkpoints are customer onboarding, payout and transaction screening, and periodic rescreening of existing customers.

Every SanctionsLookup match returns a confidence score and a human-readable explanation of why the subject matched. Your own subject reference is also echoed in the response for easy mapping to your database. The API uses REST/JSON, typically responds in under 200 ms, and supports 1 to 20 subjects per request.

Pricing starts at $49/month for 5,000 screenings, with no annual contract. New users get 100 free trial screenings with no credit card required. Screening requests are never blocked when you exceed your monthly limit; overages are simply billed. SanctionsLookup covers U.S. OFAC lists only.
