Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.

SoundCast overview
What is SoundCast?
SoundCast is a professional broadcast technology suite designed to provide radio stations with a comprehensive set of tools for streaming, automation, studio-to-transmitter linking, and content management. The platform consolidates multiple broadcast functions into a unified ecosystem and eliminates the need for stations to engage with multiple vendors. SoundCast serves stations of varying sizes across more than fifty countries and addresses the technical requirements of FM operations, internet broadcasting, and hybrid transmission environments.
The platform comprises six products that operate within an integrated environment. The Windows-based Streamer application offers studio-grade audio processing with parametric equalization, VU metering, multi-source mixing, and AutoDJ for automated playback. The hosting component delivers dedicated Icecast and Shoutcast server infrastructure on high-availability systems, enabling stations to mount encoders, manage multiple concurrent streams, and distribute content globally with a service level agreement that guarantees continuous availability. AudioLink STL replaces traditional hardware links with a lossless WebSocket audio bridge that provides encrypted low-latency transport over standard internet connections.
AirStudio, currently under development, will provide web-based station management capabilities including server administration, live listener monitoring, media uploading, playlist control, and real-time analytics accessible from any device. AirCast, also under development, is a desktop automation solution that enables clock-based programming for music scheduling, jingle insertion, and advertisement spot management without dependency on cloud connectivity or ongoing subscriptions. The WordPress plugins component includes the AirPlay Archive and Live Stream Player extensions that embed live streaming and listener interaction features directly into website interfaces.
The suite maintains API connectivity through standard Icecast and Shoutcast protocols to ensure broad encoder compatibility. The AudioLink system leverages WebSocket technology for secure real-time audio transmission between studio and transmitter locations. The WordPress plugins integrate seamlessly with station infrastructure to deliver live audio playback and archival content access without reliance on third-party services. The system architecture supports multiple mount points for simultaneous stream distribution and accommodates a variety of audio codec configurations including AAC+ encoding at high bitrate for maximum audio fidelity.
