What is SprutCAM?
SprutCAM X is a comprehensive CAD/CAM and offline programming software solution designed for programming CNC machines, industrial robots and collaborative robots. The platform provides an integrated environment for generating toolpaths and control programs across multiple manufacturing technologies including multi axis milling, turning, mill turn operations, wire electrical discharge machining and hybrid additive subtractive processes. It serves manufacturers across industries such as aerospace and aviation, automotive and transportation, die and mold production, medical and dental device manufacturing, jewelry fabrication, shipbuilding and general job shop operations. Version seventeen adds a multi project workflow architecture, project snapshot functionality for version control, enhanced machine setup configurations and an AI assistant.
The software delivers a wide range of machining capabilities spanning two point five dimensional operations such as drilling, pocketing, contouring and engraving alongside three dimensional surface machining with roughing and finishing strategies. SprutCAM X supports simultaneous and indexed five axis machining as well as turning and mill turn operations with dedicated support for Swiss type lathes. Adaptive toolpath algorithms enable high speed machining while rest machining functions identify and process uncut material regions automatically. The simulation environment provides high fidelity visualization of machining processes with automatic collision detection and real time material removal simulation for verification prior to production.
SprutCAM X Robot extends platform capabilities to industrial robotics applications by supporting offline programming for robotic arms with up to six axis control and full kinematic simulation of robotic systems. It accommodates robotic milling, laser cutting, welding, polishing and grinding operations in hybrid robot CNC cells. Compatibility with major industrial robot manufacturers is maintained through a documented library of supported robot models. The MachineMaker component enables configuration of virtual machine models and the Robot Calibration App offers tools for improving positional accuracy in robotic systems.
The platform integrates CAD modules with basic model editing tools and supports import of major file formats including Step, Iges, Stl and Dxf with direct links to common design software. An extensive post processor library covers a variety of CNC controllers and robotic systems with customization options for user created post processors. API and scripting support through macros allows automation of repetitive tasks and extends functionality. Licensing options include perpetual, subscription and network models while a software maintenance contract ensures continuous updates and technical support services. Educational resources are available through tutorials, webinars and documentation and support is provided via email and online request systems.
