Our commitment
Independent research methodology
Our researchers use a mix of verified reviews, independent research, and objective methodologies to bring you selection and ranking information you can trust. While we may earn a referral fee when you visit a provider through our links or speak to an advisor, this has no influence on our research or methodology.
Verified user reviews
GetApp maintains a proprietary database of millions of in-depth, verified user reviews across thousands of products in hundreds of software categories. Our data scientists apply advanced modeling techniques to identify key insights about products based on those reviews. We may also share aggregated ratings and select excerpts from those reviews throughout our site.
Our human moderators verify that reviewers are real people and that reviews are authentic. They use leading tech to analyze text quality and to detect plagiarism and generative AI.
How GetApp ensures transparency
GetApp lists all providers across its website—not just those that pay us—so that users can make informed purchase decisions. GetApp is free for users. Software providers pay us for sponsored profiles to receive web traffic and sales opportunities. Sponsored profiles include a link-out icon that takes users to the provider’s website.

Stringout overview
What is Stringout?
Stringout is an on-device media asset management application for Mac, built for film, documentary, and post-production teams working with professional camera formats. It reads ARRI, BRAW, R3D, and ProRes files in place directly from shuttle drives or RAIDs, eliminating the need to copy or move media before work can begin. On-device AI powers visual similarity search and speech search across all indexed drives, allowing editors to describe a frame or type a line of dialogue to locate matching shots. Auto-Assemble syncs picture to sound and generates a first assembly cut automatically, which can then be exported to Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro. Supported project saves return as versioned histories, and the free tier supports up to 100,000 files with no time limit.
Stringout is suited for small to mid-size production teams that need to share media without physically transferring drives. The File Streaming feature, available on the Pro plan at $24/month, places team media directly in Finder so editors can work in their preferred NLE without handling physical storage. All AI processing and transcription run entirely on the user's Mac: no media is uploaded to external servers, no user content is used for model training, and no video is generated. Unlimited on-device AI and unlimited transcription are included on all plans, including the free tier. The Pro plan adds File Streaming and priority support, scaling file capacity up to one million files.
