TestBot overview

What is TestBot?

TestBot is an agent based test automation platform built for teams validating hardware connected products, from automotive ECUs to industrial controllers to IoT devices, where traditional web and mobile test tools fall short.

At its core, TestBot uses an agent based architecture. Dedicated agents handle specific protocols and interfaces, including CAN, CAN FD, LIN, UDS, DoIP, J1939, SOME/IP, XCP, Modbus, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, BACnet, BLE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. These agents work alongside physical test jigs such as a CAN to USB adapter, an I/O module, a decade resistance box, a SCARA robot arm, and an AI vision camera module. This lets a single platform drive both the communication protocol layer and the physical or mechanical layer of a device under test, so teams can automate hardware in the loop style validation without the enterprise HIL rig price tag typically associated with legacy test bench vendors.

Test cases can be authored three ways: graphically with no code, in Python, or in Java. Tests are organized in a Test Set to Test Item to Test Method to Test Data structure that supports quick smoke tests as well as long duration regression suites. TestBot has run over 4,000 CAN test cases in a single overnight regression run for automotive ECU validation. The platform integrates into CI/CD pipelines, enabling continuous automated testing rather than one off manual runs, and produces structured reporting for debugging and traceability.

TestBot is used across several industries and use cases:

Automotive: ECU diagnostics, instrument cluster validation, and EV Ethernet ECU testing through DoIP.

Industrial automation: PLC and protocol level testing across Modbus, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, and EtherNet/IP.

Medical devices: compliance oriented functional and regression validation.

Defense and aerospace: embedded system validation for mission critical devices.

Consumer electronics and IoT: OTA update validation, Wi-Fi provisioning, BLE connectivity testing, and end to end IoT gateway testing.

Beyond embedded and protocol testing, TestBot also supports web app, mobile app, and Windows desktop UI automation, making it useful for teams that need to validate both the embedded device and its companion software from a single platform.

Key capabilities include end of line production testing for mass manufacturing, stress testing to push devices to their operating limits, firmware regression testing to catch version drift before release, and an ROI calculator that helps teams quantify the cost versus coverage tradeoff of automating their test suite.

TestBot is designed for engineering teams that need reliable, repeatable, and scalable test automation for hardware connected products without the cost and complexity of traditional enterprise HIL test infrastructure.
