What is Zunoy FreeMQTT?
When we started using MQTT for testing devices, we kept running into the same issue. Every small project needed a broker before we could even check whether messages were moving correctly. Sometimes the setup took longer than the actual testing. FreeMQTT was built to remove that step.
Instead of installing and maintaining your own broker, you can use the public broker provided by FreeMQTT. Open the website, copy the connection details, connect your MQTT client, and start publishing or subscribing to topics. For quick testing, that's usually all you need.
The service works with the standard MQTT protocol and supports TCP, TLS, WebSocket, and Secure WebSocket connections. Because of that, it can be used with many existing MQTT libraries, development boards, and desktop clients. If you're using Python today and an ESP32 tomorrow, you don't have to change the workflow very much.
One part of the platform that I find useful is the monitoring page. While messages are flowing through the broker, you can watch client connections, message counts, bandwidth, subscriptions, retained messages, and other broker information update in real time. It's much easier than trying to work out what's happening from log files alone.
The website also includes sample connection code. That's helpful if you're trying a library for the first time or introducing MQTT to someone new on the team. Copy the example, replace the connection values, and you're ready to test. There's no need to spend time searching through documentation before sending your first message.
FreeMQTT fits a lot of different situations. Some developers use it while building prototypes. Others use it in classrooms to demonstrate MQTT concepts. QA teams often connect applications to make sure messages are delivered correctly before moving to another environment. Hardware developers use it while checking communication between sensors, gateways, and embedded devices.
It isn't trying to replace a complete enterprise IoT platform. There are products designed for fleet management, device provisioning, and large-scale deployments. FreeMQTT focuses on something much smaller: giving developers a public MQTT broker that is available whenever they need to connect a client, exchange messages, or verify that an application is behaving as expected.
