BookStack overview

What is BookStack?

BookStack is an open-source documentation platform focused on providing an easy-to-use experience within mixed-technical-skill environments.

Usability is at the core of the platform, with a simple content structure following a familiar book-chapter-page hierarchy, with Shelves being an optional element for further organization. It comes with a WYSIWYG editor, which lets users avoid the need to learn any sort of custom syntax.

For enterprise environments, BookStack offers a range of authentication options including OIDC, SAML2, and LDAP upon the default of email and password. MFA is built-in and enforceable on a per-role basis.

A REST API within BookStack, in addition to an outbound webhook system, provides a method of extension integration with other business systems where required.
