Great video conferencing software

Speaker 1:                                             My name's David. I'm a pastor. We started with Zoom and switched to Microsoft Teams for our online conference tools. And for more reviews like that, click below. We've used both of these softwares in our organization to organize online meetings. Of course, when the pandemic hit a couple of years ago, everyone was scrambling to find a way to meet online, and we started with Zoom. Zoom was a great tool. We switched over to Microsoft Teams because it seems to be more seamless and flawless for us.
                                                       The strengths of Microsoft Teams seemed to be even with a Mac or PC environment, even on an Apple device, it seems to work flawlessly. We had a lot of issues with Zoom. It's interesting; most business people prefer Zoom. We've had more stability and ease of use with Microsoft Teams in the things that we do.
                                                       Zoom is a great place to start. Zoom actually has more available with a free subscription than Microsoft Teams would. If you're going to do a lot of video conferencing though, you need to go ahead and subscribe to either one, whichever one you use, because the tools that they each bring to the table are worth the money. Zoom was a great place to start. It was easy to use. We just needed... There's more stability in Microsoft Teams. I don't know if it's a better server set up. I don't know what it is. But we just found it to be much more stable, and we could add more users without exploding the bandwidth. Zoom seemed to really tax the bandwidth when we added more users.
                                                       Honestly on startup, Zoom is probably a little easier. When you're invited to a zoom conference, or even when you create one, you have a link to send out. With Teams, if you discipline yourself to send the link out at the right time and do all those things, it's great. Teams also will embed in the Microsoft tools calendar, and that kind of thing. If you leave your organization people to have to find that, sometimes it takes a moment for them to be able to get hooked up. So while Teams brings more to the table, Teams also is a little tougher, especially for someone who's not as tech savvy as others might be.
                                                       For us, the first consideration was ease of use. So the truth is you probably would have more of a Zoom point than a Microsoft Teams point. But then stability is huge, and Microsoft Teams definitely wins that battle around here. Then the ability to share screens, to share documents. Both of them are able to do it. I guess maybe we've been conditioned in the Microsoft Office type of environment, the Microsoft Office tools. So most people if they're familiar with those, then getting up to speed on Teams, and doing those things won't be an issue at all.

Speaker 1:                                             Hi. My name is Rachel. I'm a graduate research assistant, and I was using Zoom, but now I added on Teams. For more reviews, see below.
                                                       So, I started using Zoom for various research activities, such as talking with research participants, scheduling meetings between research staff and other coordinators. I switched to Microsoft Teams because they have a HIPAA compliant component of the software, and so I was allowed to record the meetings using this encrypted platform, and that's why I switched.
                                                       I think Microsoft Teams is best for collaborating with colleagues, all within the same institution. It's also very good for recording teletherapy sessions that need to be encrypted and HIPAA compliant so it's a very good telehealth platform for clinicians and researchers to use.
                                                       I think Zoom is best for conducting large classes and large lectures where there aren't many participants. It's a fairly interactive platform, so you can use the whiteboard function, there's a polling function, you can also share your screen, and so, I think it's really a good platform for interacting between students, classmates, and other faculty. And then beyond that, there's also a breakout room which can facilitate small group conversation in a really user-friendly way.
                                                       So, I think Zoom is very user-friendly. I think that's a more intuitive platform to get started on. There are relatively few functions. Everything is labeled very well, so it's pretty straightforward for people that aren't used to using telehealth or virtual communication platforms. I think Microsoft Teams has a bit more complexity in terms of getting set up. There are more drop-down menus. There are more settings that you can play around with, so it's not as straightforward for people that are [inaudible 00:02:03] to use virtual platforms.
                                                       I think there are a few different important things to consider. The first being, ease of use. So, not only for myself but for the people that I'm setting meetings up with. I want to make sure that the person that I am trying to speak with knows how to use it. I think most people have Zoom, whereas, when I try to set up Microsoft Teams meetings sometimes there can be some snafus with the other person accessing the software or the platform. Specifically, the encrypted version. However, given the nature of networking with [inaudible 00:02:38] information, it can be really good to have that capability which Microsoft Teams allows for.
