Aesthetically, Spectrum is stuck in the 90s and sometimes I feel the very basic look can make it a bit hard to navigate because it doesn't use colors, fonts, or any sort of 'design' to draw your attention to important places/buttons.

Overall I like Spectrums ability to integrate with other software and ability to import or export data with the use of SDX  and API.

We have a complicated organization of companies, and Viewpoint Spectrum allows applicable users to access various companies with ease.

We can run job cost or profitability reports quickly so we know how our projects are going.  

Customer service is a shot in the dark, to put it mildly and many reps on many occasions indicated to fix a particular issue, a one sided entry would be needed.  

It is especially good for specialty contractors where tracking and managing productivity is critical.  

I have used Viewpoint Spectrum for over 30 years, and it helped grow many businesses over the years in all facets of the industry.

I wish credit cards and banks connected live to Spectrum as they do in Quickbooks.

Spectrum has grown in its ability to be integrated with other software to increase its functionality.

You can customize everything from colors and fonts to layout and spacing, ensuring that your content looks exactly the way you want it to.

Account Payable Specialist

Not able to delete invoices during the routing approval process, not being able to send emails after the switch to the cloud, and not being able to change receiving quantities, phases and cost centers as a higher user (administrator).

I keep accepting promo calls from our cable provider thinking it may be Viewpoint calling.

Crystal reports are not ideal, no easy flexibility with report editing, bare minimum financial reports included, clunky processes to post transactions to GL and antiquated feeling user interface.   And it's a small thing, but there are several fields that are way too short.

The training is a joke - we spent 4 hours a week at $250/hr listening to the trainer read from a script telling us to check boxes for setup that could've been set up for us before we started as it wasn't even setup specific to our company, it was the general setup and we were told we would customize it for our company during a later training.

Director of Business Development & Operations

There is no flat rate pricing availabililty in Spectrum for use on residential side of company so we have to use two programs and manually input data in Spectrum for the accounting aspect.   

Payroll Specialist

Viewpoint spectrum system doesn't allow one to void a direct deposit payroll check without creating a manual one that will also need to be voided later (would rather have a better streamlined process).

The software also includes a wide variety of images, icons, and other design elements, making it easy to create unique and eye-catching visuals.

Also Spectrum user interface has not changed since Windows 95.

Spectrum does not allow one set future date changes to salaries, insurance premium activation dates to deactivate after a certain time frame.

I wish we could link the banks to the program.

Contract & Billing Administrator

I don't need all the information the report provides and some that it doesn't, so I create an excel sheet and work from that for the billing period.

So we have to create a CM and then use Adobe to change the original invoice and send it out like that instead of being able to add the CM to the original invoice.

Some areas in the employee section and lower-tier subcontract section do not allow for attachments to be added, which is problematic and requires items to be saved where they do not necessarily make the most sense.

Coming from the Operations side of the business, managing contracts and change orders, Spectrum makes everything more complicated than our previous system.

This is a software made for a large construction company, not a small one, you need an accountant dedicated to operating it, no one tells you this until it's too late and you're stuck with it.

Spectrum really does a great job tracking job costs, and when the system is used properly does anything we need it to and then some in relation to jobs.

Access to the work order/reports/labor report is terrible. Once the data is pulled to payroll it is not possible to pull the technician's time.

It feels like a big production if its a big job with a lot of phase codes and a lot of moving parts. if it was as easy to create as an excel spreadsheet, it wouldn't be so hard and not as scary, then you wouldn't feel like your going to really screw it up.

They have a suggestions site, where they continuously mark suggestions that do NOT exist as "already exists". If they have a UX team, they must not be paying them enough.

I had paid for trainings that end up without being fully trained on the modules because the set up was so wrong it did not function and the spectrum accounting processes could not function and be completed.

The reliability has been and on going issue that needs to be addressed. And there are specific things like not being able to copy and paste and email address to new contacts is very annoying.

The reports are not very customizable and the reports available are limited and does not have the information I need in a report.

We changes to Spectrum for it was supposed to work better than our former accounting system, Computer Ease, but that switch over has not produced the promised results.

It has some great features that I use in Teams the accounting side I review reports you need feedback from AP/AR on that side.

The Webinar was extremely useful as I learned and advised the AP department of the function for the Automatic importing of invoices.  

To set up a job with cost codes, etc in Spectrum is a bit scary if your not used to it. Once you do some things in the setup, it cannot be changed, or easily changed.

The different ways to track our job progresses and billing/payables and profit.

Slowness in data pulling, user roles are canned and very less room for changing or new role creation.

Our time capture for payroll is with another system which needed some customizing to integrate.

the ability to export most reports to excel. and the abilitiy to connect with Power BI.

We are still tracking our subcontractor daily reports on an excel spreadsheet outside of the system.
